I really thought that Mims/Cager and Wesco/Bawden were each in either/or situations. If these numbers hold, it’s very surprising to me that they cut Wesco and IR’d Bawden and kept Cager and six WRs. I expected more of an investment in the running game (read: blockers). This tells me that they’re all about weapons in the passing game, instead. If they can bring back Yeboah and a couple of the WRs they cut to the practice squad, they are going to be very deep in the weapons department.

Never seeing McDermott or Edoga in a game for the Jets would be fantastic. That said, need their replacements stat.

Seeing them both gone is a treat, especially since I was convinced they'd stay. Shame that Feeney is still around (for now) but 2/3 ain't bad.

Now just gotta wait and see if there are any more moves that resolve Ty Johnson (Coleman coming back?) and Ashtyn Davis.

Outside of keeping Shepherd, I'm pretty good if the rest stands as it is.

The Safety decisions are mind boggling. Hopefully some intelligent plan is forthcoming.

"Mind boggling" maybe a stretch. Tony Adams received the max UDFA contract that could be given. Jets love his athletic ability. While may fans thought Pinnoch faired well at safety, the (more) experts at Jets X Factor thought otherwise. Parks played lights out but is older and Ashton Davis has developed steadily (while healthy) even having a few opportunistic INTS. I don't think this is as outrageous as some fans are stating

I hate Jeff Smith so much.  And it's not his fault.

The coaching staff might as well adopt him.

I just want depth guys with some upside and who are actually capable of making a play.

I was going to bring this name up, it seems to me that he lives on due to special teams.

OK so how does that work? We’re fourth on the list. Let’s say we want Bob Smith. Do we announce that we want Bob Smith and then we have to see if the ones ahead of us will take them first? Please explain thanks

You basically submit to the league office your waiver claims... but if you win you have to put them on active roster... so you can't put a claim on 15 guys and choose which you want to keep... if you win the waiver claim you will have to cut someone on your team.

Any team that wants a guy puts in a claim to the league office.  They are resolved in order.  So if JAX, DET and HOU don't claim a guy and we do, he's ours but must be put on the 53-man roster for at least a period of time, meaning we have to cut/IR someone to make room.

im glad my guy Bam made it and I like Cager too - I do not think they are done with DL (how u gonna use 7 pass rushers?)

JFM and Clemons playing a lot of DT on obvious passing downs.

So then realistically you would only claim what? 2 guys? 3 tops?

He’s a solid, core special teamer, with great speed, who’s looked better every year on offense. That’s hardly a terrible WR6.

Funny you say that.

I read (don't know it too be true)  that Boyer gets to pick 1 wr and 1 db

Hence Smith/ Hardee

Realistically, yeah.  Basically, if you think a guy on the waiver wire is better for your team than a guy you have on your 53, you can claim him to swap him in for the guy you have.  That isn't likely to happen much in the next two weeks.  But as the season goes on, and injuries start to happen, it takes on a new purpose.

Are you just deliberately provoking the Mims Haters Brigade now?

Lol, Mims earned WR5 this offseason on that TD catch as far as I’m concerned. Once JD realized what the market for near-cut WRs was, he decided Mims was worth more to him on the roster than off - for now.

Well at first glance...

  • Only one backup tackle, and it's Max Mitchell the rookie, so expect another signing there.
  • Why is Vinny Curry on this team?
  • Our DTs outside of Quinnen are an enormous question mark with no significant upgrades from last year. Ulbrich seems to be banking on DE/DT versatility.
  • 4 LBs, so a waiver claim may be happening there
  • I guess we're ride or die with Lamarcus Joyner
  • There is no backup nickel corner unless Echols can play there.

They've gone for the youth movement in some areas, vet forward in others. Let's see how the next few days shake out.

Ben Mason! Newtown native, just got waived by Baltimore. Dooooo it Tanny.

I was a fan of drafting/acquiring him last year. They could have claimed him last year when they were #2 on thr Waiver-wire and JD/Saleh passed on adding him to the roster.

I have never seen Ashton Davis use even one of his arms in a tackle

Me too, but I think last year they were really trying to make the Wesco at FB experiment work. That failed, so they brought in Bawden. He's now on IR.

Given how LaFleur's system works, they're either going to let Ruckert be the FB/H-Back or make a waiver claim for a FB.
