We'll see how many of these guys actually turn into anything worthwhile. And, to be honest, the question "are the jets better talent evaluators than the entire NFL" is a bit absurd in this context. For one thing, it's not "the entire NFL" - it was 7 players, not 32. Never forget that the reason all these ex-Jets got claimed is because they have ACTUAL LIVE NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME TAPE. Not practice or scouting or college or whatever. Most of the people that got waived are out there with nothing, all the guys the Jets dumped played roles here because we didn't have anything better, so, it's really easy for other teams to just grab one of these guys with pretty extensive NFL Game tape to work with instead of just grabbing a total unknown off the scrap heap and trying again. That's why the Jet's lost all those guys. They were guys we had been playing because we had to and now we don't need to, hopefully. Potentially. But whether Saleh genuinely thought he'd be okay with a young, inexperienced secondary last year or not, it would have been nice to not have to witness the worst defense in Jets' history last season. So it either falls on JD who didn't address it or Saleh who told JD it didn't need addressing. All of last year we heard that the secondary was "secondary" according to Saleh. It didn't matter that much, as long as CBs could win on 3rd down, according to Saleh. Well obviously the secondary does matter a lot and JD invested heavily in it this offseason.
