Stop working out for a month and comeback to the gym. It takes nearly 2-3 weeks to catch back up. It is the same with sports. I think week 3 would be feasible for his return and with less pressure on him. Just my humble opinion and I respect yours. 3 hours ago, Bronx said: The outcome of game one will determine Zach's return. If Flacco blows, we insert Zach immediately; but if everything is hitting on high cylinders with Flacco, that should carry an extra game with him to validate a pattern. Zach will benefit from watching an established offense for two consecutive weeks. As per Saleh in today's press conference if Zach is healthy & feeling good, he Will start, Period... stated he doesn't Need to be "caught up". Adding just a bit of doubt in the minds of the Ravens so that they have to at least think about the chance of Wilson playing. Something tells me Jim Harbaugh isn’t losing any sleep over the prospect of Kapono playing. I don’t think even Saleh is foolish enough to believe anybody in the league fears Zach Wilson. If anything, it would be a boon to their defense licking its chops at the prospect or takeaways and at being afforded the ability to tee off on the QB. Nobody holds the ball longer than ZW.

maury77
For those of us that want a definitive answer as to whether Wilson is the long term solution, the more games he plays the better, so I hope he plays on Sunday (although I would not play him if I were the coach until he had a week or 2 of actual practice to catch up). He doesn't need to fear him but you can bet your ass he respects him. It's a matter of time to prepare for QBs with different skill sets. They'll play defense a little differently against each QB and so giving them less time to prepare against one is just a no brainer.

Untouchable
Anyone who believes that Wilson is playing on Sunday is a goof. All this news tells me is that he’s definitely suiting up against Cleveland as opposed to the Jets holding him out until the Bengals game. Flacco has been taking all of the 1st team reps for nearly a month and the NFL loves any sort of “revenge” headline (see Watson returning against Houston for a prime example), no matter how insignificant and antiquated.

Popular Post JohnnyLV
Seems to me that many here do not understand what in-season practice is like. It is very opponent focused and there really is not a huge amount of reps as there is in training camp. Because of this, another week of "practice" is not really going to make that much difference because you would have to give Flacco a lot of reps to get ready for the game and in the end Zach maybe gets like 40-50 additional reps at most going week 2 instead of week 1. If he is healthy, no reason not to let him start. Here is a typical NFL team schedule for a game week: Monday (after a Sunday game) Morning Coaches evaluate game film, which helps them develop the upcoming week’s priorities and the overall message for the team Players arrive at the facility and receive treatment to begin recovery from Sunday’s game Training staff release the injury report, letting coaches know each player’s availability for the week of practices and perhaps even for the next game Afternoons Head coach discusses the team’s performance in their previous game and evaluates whether they met their goals during an all-team meeting Players attend position meetings where they receive their grades Evenings Coaches strategize for the next game by studying their upcoming opponent’s film Players receive treatment from trainers and continue their conditioning Tuesday (players’ day off) Morning Coaches study more video to get their strategy ready for the upcoming opponent Coaches then bring their ideas and recommendations to the coaches’ game plan meetings Afternoons Coaches finalize aspects of the game plan by drawing first- and second-down plays on cards for the team to run during practice Evenings Coaches continue working on the next game’s strategy Wednesday (first practice) Teams practice for about 120-130 total plays between offense, defense and special teams (during season a few of these will be padded but not all) Thursday Teams practice third-down situations and introduce red-zone and two-minute drills with around 80-90 plays uring season a few of these will be padded but not all) Friday (Fast Friday) Teams practice tight red-zone, short-yardage and goal-line situations without pads — about 45-50 plays — with a focus on speed and precision Saturday Teams practice without pads, running through all possible scenarios — intended to be easier, slower and a lighter practice Teams focus on mental preparation so players can physically rest the day before gameday and coaches can run a final review of the plays and game situations they want to implement for Sunday’s game Sunday – Gameday 4 1

Doesn’t mean Zach won’t have a good year, I just don’t think he’s going to take a “huge” leap and the coaches are going to be preaching patience. As a fanbase, we deserve better than another sub .500 season along with promises of "its going to get better." Its time for this organization to start winning games and I think winning more games than they lose is a reasonable ask on our part.
