Any time you can add an OT who gave up 4 sacks and 5 pressures on 80 dropbacks, you have to do it.

The JD method of building O Line. It's so elegant it's almost Macagnesque.

I know these bottom of the roster moves don’t mean a lot in the long run, but this one sticks in the old craw a bit. Knight played really well this preseason and McDermott is ******* terrible.

Dude, we didn’t cut Barry Sanders in his prime. Outside of injury he’d never see the field. As is he likely ends up on our PS.

Feels to me like JD was working a trade or a FA OL signing and couldn't get it done so he did this to have more than Mitchell on the bench this weekend...

Jets coaches value McDermott, and he was always likely to return once his knee was healthy. Just Mitchell in reserve wasn't enough.

Seeing Knight cut at this point is painful, but 4 RBs is unnecessary. Hopefully, cutting him this late lessens the chance of him being claimed and he makes it through waivers onto the PS.

 I thought Connor McGovern and Connor McDermott were the same guy. Has there ever been a team in history where this many guys on a team had similar names? Breece Hall Bryce Hall, Michael Carter the 84th...it's too much.

It fits the JD/Saleh team building philosophy. If you play well in the pre-season, you ain't making this team. 

If you're mediocre to terrible during the regular season, you'll get 400 shots.

Most teams have filled their spots already and the season begins on Sunday. 
 

This was an excellent example of JD’s “roster gymnastics” in maintaining/improving veteran OLine depth with a player he knew wouldn’t be picked up by other teams (McDermott has the most value to quickly contribute with the Jets above all other teams) and JD was able to keep & stash a promising young RB from being poached  by other teams after his strong preseason showing - Knight will be signed to PS if no one else claims him (which I doubt at this point in time due to season opener)

After years of Idzik and McCagagnan giving us this:

It’s GREAT to have GM who knows how to juggle the roster.

A few more cuts and it sounds like the Jets will have released a full Starting 11 according to some fans.

Should have gotten rid of Ty Johnson IMO.  I liked Knight but let's not get carried away.  Probably a better than 50% chance he ends up on the PS.

I understand how you might feel, but these guys -front office and coaches- put a lot of value in athletic scores. Zonovan had an RAS score of 5.85, Ty scored a 9.75. I was a little surprised about their interest in Knight in the first place, but I don’t know what Joe Douglas is looking at with RBs. Perine was the first guy he drafted in 2020 that didn’t test well.

I would have preferred Brandon Shell. If healthy, a much better option than McDermott.  If healthy. ?????
