Allen was such a wild card, I would have taken Darnold over him, cant lie.  Mahomes/Watson hurt more because we took Jamal Adams because we had Christian Hackeberg. And if Lance and Fields hit and Wilson doesnt, that would definitely hurt a lot worse,

If the Bills were picking 3rd, they'd have taken Darnold over Allen. As much as I loved the Jamal pick at the time, the one to be upset about is passing on Watson & Mahomes because they took Hackenberg the year before...

Allen is a good QB but a lot of success of players has to do with coaching and team mates.  The Bills rebuild was well under way when they picked Allen who looked meh year one, they added some good weapons and with good coaching he is where he is.

If Allen had to contend wit the utter schlock talent the jets had for their first two years we would be running him out of town.

Also in many years the player and team anointed as being league darlings has a fall.

There will be an ESPN 30 for 30 on Josh about how he was over drafted, became a sensation, and then somehow managed to turn out to be a draft bust. You watch and see.

Marino was such an amazing thrower, and very under rated in moving in the pocket to avoid pressure.

I guess he still does since he never played a single down, which did you know?  He's the only player to be taken in the first 2 rounds not to play a single down.  There are some dudes who were injured but the only healthy player to never play a down is the Hackenberg.  When you look at it that way, it's arguably their worst ever pick.

Clearly we needed to start him day 1, with no competition, and play him in every game for at least three years.

Not sold that we had a staff good enough to develop him. Allen was a project player that happened to land in the perfect spot.  I’m almost certain he’d be on the panthers right now if he were drafted here.

Heard a fun anecdote about Daboll, that he recognized Allen wasn’t learning anything in their classroom-based install  periods, so they built a 20-yards long football field where Daboll would physically walk Allen through the stuff they wanted to run that week. I’d imagine a lot of very good players have great difficulty translating things they see on a chalkboard and taking it onto the field. Sometimes, it’s on the coaches to find a way to make a player work.

Once his offensive coordinator left it was all over for Allen.

Probably will get to make a speech when Danny Dimes is inducted in the hall of fame.

At the time their was supposedly concern about his knees and there were rumors about marijuana use. Remember it was the mid 80's and the Jets were among many teams that passed on Marino. So they were all wrong.

I believe the rumors were about cocaine use, not weed. 

Also, he had a mediocre senior season after an amazing junior season.

Marino on the Jets in 85 and 86 we might have gone to two SB.  Probably don't beat the Bears but have a great shot against the Packers.   Marino throwing to Toon and Walker with Shuler at TE and Freeman at RB would have been very special. 

Duper and Clayton were JAG's who Marino put into the conversation as high end NFL WR.   They weren't.

Marino's senior year at PItt he threw for 2,400 yards at 58%m 17TD and 23INT.  That and being an alleged cokehead turned plenty of teams off.   He did not do well with the coaching change and only put up 3 points in the Bowl loss to the Dominator and the Pony Express.

No, it doesn't make me sick.  This organization doesn't know how to pick a franchise QB...it's obvious, isn't it?  My opinion, if Wilson doesn't make it, chuck this drafting that position and pull a Denver Bronco and trade for an established QB...going to hurt, but not as much as over 50 years of sh*tting the bed.
