Rodrigo Blankenship?

Cut by the Colts this week after missing a game-winning FG in OT and shanking two kickoffs, but he was really good his rookie year (86% FG) and - despite what the stats will tell you if you check his 2021 - really good in his second year. 2021 looks ugly (11/14 FGs and 7/8 extra points), but 2 of his missed FGs and the missed extra point came in his last game of the year, against Baltimore - he injured his hip, tried to kick through it, and then went on IR for the rest of the season. Heading into that game, he was 9/10 on FGs for the year (only miss was from 51) and 6/6 on extra points. Career long is a 53 yarder and he's not very accurate over 50 yards (1/4 on his career), but might be worth a practice squad spot the way Zeurlein started the year

2 Kickoffs out of bounds and a missed extra point... Hard pass

Guys, guys, guys, stay with me here.. what if we went out and got players that are worse than the worst Jets players? Think about it.. at some point it would have to be so bad that it would like a negative lap and they'd all be really good! Or the universe would explode... either way tho..

A ridiculously unclutch kicker. Nope.

This.  He is a good, reliable kicker, except when the pressure is on.  Give me a kicker that is expected to make 80% of his 40-yarders in a tight game in the 4th quarter.  Hot Rod ain't that guy.

With all of the picks we had, it was a miss not drafting Cade York in the 4th round and settling this kicking situation for the next 10-15 years

Yup. He's an all-time great after hitting that one long big FG in his first game.  What if he shanks an XP this week?  I love how Jets fans look around the league, find the best absolute example of the issue on the table across 31 other teams, and say the Jets were stupid for not doing the same.  If JD drafted a PK in the 4th round, the fan base would have gone nuts.

You think the Jets would trade Clemons or Mitchell for York right now?

Everyone loves to downplay the importance of kickers, but they have far more impact on wins & losses than most players taken in rounds 4-7.  Cade York is not just another kicker.  If you followed college football, you'd know he made 80+% of his kicks every year, is absolutely clutch, and has an absolute cannon for a leg.

You'll both have a front row seat to see him this weekend.  Wanna place a bet on who will have a bigger impact on the game (York, Clemons, or Mitchell)?

So many people have never watched CFB and it shows.

I'm an LSU fan and absolutely agree with you on York, but imagine the outrage from Jet fans if they drafted a kicker in the 4th round. They would have been calling for JD's head.

Instead of Max Mitchell?  Or instead of Michael Clemons?

Sure.

Since Mitchell is the starting RT for the team, that's easy money

Signing this kid is a no brainer. Excellent rookie year. Played his 2nd year hurt(hip). Had one bad game on opening day.

If he is not hurt, sign this beast.

I'd take him over what we have now.  Though if KC cuts Matty Ice, I hope JD considers re-signing him.

To be fair, you probably would have won that bet
