jetstream23
Maybe I missed something but why does the NFL have two games going up against each other in primetime on Monday?

Great question, I looked and did a double take haha. Also, when was the last time you saw the Jets and Giants play at the SAME time? They did today. I couldn’t believe that either. Yeah, how stupid is that? The games overlap, Even if the guy who made the schedule was drunk, what? There is no one who can correct that? frankiepapa
The last few years they had 2 Monday night games on the first weekend with one of the games being on the west coast and a later start timeSent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Jimmy 2 Times
I searched it and they said they wanted a Sunday afternoon feeling for the primetime game. Start watching the early game, they overlap for a quarter or two, then turn over to the ending of the late game.

Dcat
Higher ratings for the later game on the East Coast if they overlap. When they used to do the late start with no overlap, East Coast ratings went way down for the 2d game.
jetstream23
Yeah, sounds like revenue. Just a bit odd. I dont’ have a problem with it but I wouldn’t overlap the games. Just go with 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM Eastern Time. Potentially get full-time audiences for both games on the east coast and you’d have 3:30PM and 6:30PM starts here in the West, where only those really interested in a 3:30 game between two east coast teams would have to potentially get home from work early or just miss the first half. I like two games. I don’t think I like them overlapping but whatever.
Jetsfan80
I read an article about it. Not gonna post it cuz I ended up just getting more confused, lol. Has something to do with the 18-week schedule generating more "flex games" at the end of the season, and thus pushing more games to the early/middle part of the season.
