Should Ashtyn (the other) Davis start next week?

Ashtyn saved the game.  Let's be grateful.  JD has alot more work to do at this position.  Joyner lucked out by getting hurt last year, because had he played, he never would have been extended.

Hopefully Ashtyn can continue to make progress, but as I said, the S position is going to cost us at least 2 games this season.  That is on JD.

Didn’t we cut pinnock for Tony adams who was supposed to be amazing?

We thought we were going to be able to stash Pinnock on the PS.   Tony Jefferson is still on the Giants' PS so Pinnock is protected on the roster.  That will change soon.

First of all, as far as the stats show, Pinnock hasn't made a single tackle or play for the Giants.  Possibly he hasn't even taken a snap yet.  So let's move on from that.

As for Davis, I think I'd rather put him out there than Joyner simple because the sample we have of Joyner's work so far is bad, and the much smaller sample of Davis is very good.  Let's get more data on Davis.  Maybe he surprises us and turns into a good FS.  He certainly has the speed and physical traits to do it.

Davis had that 3 game stretch last year where he came up with 2 INT’s and forced 3 fumbles.

Name me another player on defense who came close to that over the entire 17 game season?

People would prefer we play a broken down LaMarcus Joyner over the kid we invested a 3rd round pick in? Why, exactly?

Put in there though how many bad angles he took and over ran tackles or got beat in coverage.

He was always going to be a big hitter, but if that's al you do well, it's not enough.

Again, Joyner takes sh*tty angles and gets lost in coverage as well.

So why not go with the 25 year old who you invested a 3rd round pick in two years ago who has at least shown that he can generate turnovers?

Why don't you tell us? He started 10 games last year and had 2 Int, 3 PD, 3 FF and 62 Tackles. I would rather see him in there instead of Joyner or Adams.

What position are you gonna trim back on to improve the safety situation? Safety is the least valued position on defense. They’ve made heavy investments on the offense at every spot, and the DL, CB, and, with Mosley’s money, LB on defense. If you’re gonna be thin somewhere, that’s a fine place to be thin.

Ashtyn Davis has as many INTs and FF's since Week 9 of the 2021 season as Jamal Adams has had over the last four seasons.

@Gastineau Lives @Larz @bitonti @Pac @T0mShane

how many sacks does he have? DTD?

we've had versions of this conversation over and over for the last few years but Jamal didn't get paid for his INTs he got paid for "big plays" which in his case was darn near a sack per game (when healthy)

Joyner is undersized and hasn’t shown he’s worthy of playing time over younger and bigger players on the bench.

Joyner will get injured and Davis will spot start here and there. If he can just be allowed to roam and spy deep, his speed and (hopefully) improved recognition - like IDing Brisset staring down route in INT - has the potential for him to be a ballhawk INT machine

Watching that you realize just how bad of a throw that was Brisset.

Jacoby tries to look off Ashtyn, Davis did an incredible job cutting the route. Cooper is open, and the pass would have been on target.

As painful as it might to be for you and the rest of the fanbase, it's ok to tip your hat to a job well done.
