Saleh Says it’s “Bush League” to Discuss Ulbrich Comments on Quinnen Williams

Apparently less than thrilled to learn fans and media were critical of his defensive coordinator throwing his best player under the bus, Jets head coach Robert Saleh called it “bush league” to discuss the comments.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, whose unit has been the worst in the NFL since taking over before last season took a shot at defensive tackle Quinnen Williams while meeting with the media yesterday.  When asked about Williams’ snap count, Ulbrich said “there are these critical moments in games, ‘Why is Quinnen not out there?’ You look to the side and he’s gasping for air.”

The comments obviously got the attention of Williams who took to twitter to re-tweet comments from Saleh earlier this year in which he praised Williams.  “Quinnen is in the best shape of his life”.

Prior to joining the Jets staff, Ulbrich had never held the position of defensive coordinator, sans an interim stint with the Falcons, and his group has been the worst in the NFL since taking the post.  Some would argue not the best time to go after your best player, but perhaps doing so is bush league?  Remember…positive vibes only.

What's "bush league" is how this coaching staff prepares this team to compete week in and week out. He should stop mouthing off and come up with game plans for specific teams, rather than putting the same scheme out there every week. Saleh is going to get himself fired if he doesn't either fire this guy or step in and take charge. At least some of the rookie head coaches in the league knew better than to hire 1st time coordinators being he's a 1st time HC. That is a sure fire way to get your a$$ canned.

Richie was asst coach of the jets, head coach of the eagles and then hc of the jets.

i would have never thought I would say this in my lifetime but he has actually achieved more at least in title then saleh

He’s not wrong. The NY media reads into/makes an issue about everything and it’s obnoxious - I would never want to coach here. With that said… it is what it is and they’re all better off just not saying anything at all

He said it was bush league for the press to grab a snippet of what Ulbrich said and use it out of context to make it look like an insult. Ironically enough they have also taken a tiny snippet of what Saleh said and are using it out of context here again.

It’s almost comical how in over his head this guy seems to be.

I don’t know how anyone has faith in Saleh at this point.

The whole selling point of the guy was that he was a defensive guru with an infectious personality that would get the whole locker room to run through brick walls for him.

As much sh*t as I’ve given Rex, at least he genuinely fit that bill.
