Not really the point I was getting at...

two things here:

1) I don't think he's really capable of helping all that much - simply because he can't stay healthy.

2) Jets aren't a challenge for the SB this year - even if he stays healthy this year and next - good.  Waste future draft capital for the next two years on a great player - that doesn't play.  I'm all for it.

If ZW turns into a Josh Allen talent - I don't see any reason to roll the dice on a player like McCafrey.

But if you have Allenn - just build a strong, smart steady team around him - no reason for last minute tricks.

With that said - if they can get him for a  3rd or something - why not.

That whole post was a huge cop out. You didn't  address anything I was saying, all you did was talk about losing picks and how great that is for other teams.

The Bills are loading up for a SB run. You make these kind of moves when you do that. A player like McCaffrey can be a key part of them making it. He runs well and he is a great pass catcher. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. It can happen but if he stays healthy, you just gave your QB a nuclear  weapon.

Also, your number two point contradicts  itself. You start out even if he stays healthy and close with waste future picks on a player that doesn't  play.

Having trouble making up your mind there?

yes, throwing high level picks and big cap money at a guy that is always injured isn't a great move.

So if you're talking about McCaffrey - I don't think it's a good move for them.

If you're talking about an abstract, would I trade high picks for a SB.  Sure, who wouldn't?

It's  a cop out because you just spoke about injury, not to the point of loading up for a SB run. The Bills RB's scare nobody.

Think you guys are misreading this.   I believe Carolina would give him away for little draft compensation just to get his salary off the books.  Paying an oft injured RB huge money for a last place team is not a good allocation.   Would be smart move by bills if only for a 1 1/2 years.

If the Bills made the call, you make them pay up.  Learn from Douglas

And the Painters aren't trading McCafrey because he's bad.

McCaffrey is a unique situation in that he's rarely healthy and that matters.  Not sure how you can look at a trade like that and not take into account the likelihood that he's not going to play very much.

So again, if you just want me to say -yes trading for a better RB than what you have is a good thing - then I will 100% agree.  Upgrading your roster is always a good idea and I have no problem with giving up draft capital to do it.

Well, your whole point is based on him being injured all the time or rarely healthy  as you put it which really isn't  true. His first 3 seasons he played in every game. His last two, yes, he had some injury problems but this year he hasn't missed a game yet and there is no reason to think he will. He has been healthy more than hurt over his career.

Would love for the bills to trade future assets for this guy.  A win now panic move.

Joe Douglas will sit back, watch these clown organizations waste assets and the Jets will strike and take over this division in 2023 or 2024.

They’re 4-1. How is that a panic move? Not like they’re not winning. Panthers just fired their HC. They seem to be a team going on fire sale, total rebuild. Perfect time to pick up their best player at a low price.

I think they are way more likely to trade for Sherwood Williams rather than McCaffrey. Just my opinion.

KC is a dynasty

Really? They’ve won one SB and are already trading away players to make cap space because of the ridiculous contracts the top paid players have on the team. I doubt they win another SB for awhile. NE is probably the last dynasty unless the contracts for the top players balances out.

When you feel like you’re close to being a team with legit SB aspirations you go all in.  You never know when you’re going to get close again.  It’s not desperation, it’s exactly what I would hope the Jets would do if they were close too.

You are not getting mcaffery at a low price.

He’s an aging RB with a ton of mileage.  The bills don’t need him.  All the leverage is with buffalo

I wouldn’t be shocked if the rumors were being generated by CMC and his people to try to get out of the Baker/Rhule Carolina trash heap fire

Aging?  Hes 26.  The Bills are going to have to pay a premium to get mcCaffery.

And he didnt accumulate much mileage at all the last 2 years as hes been hurt.

26 is old for a nfl running back and mccafreey was the most used rb in history of college before even going to the nfl

30 is old for an nfl running back.  26 is their prime.

Nick Chubb is 26 and leads the league in rushing.  hes not old.

He didnt play much as a freshman at stanford and left after his junior year.

Do you seriously want to compare McCaffrey and Chubb injury histories or how much Mccafrey was used at Stanford?

Yes, I do.  Chubb had 789 touches rushing/receiving in college.  McCaffery has 731 rushing/receiving.

Nick Chubb tore his acl, mcl and pcl.  Major, devestating injury

Mccaffery's worst injuries were soft tissue stuff and an ankle sprain.  Never a serious injury.

You are wrong on both counts.  Chubb was used more in college and has had worse injuries.

An often injured, albeit a superstar RB, isn’t going to draw Herschel Walker type trade. Panthers would be lucky to get a mid 1st rounder. I’d put his max value around a late 1st rounder, which is what the Bills would have. If Mccafree didn’t have his injury woes, I could see it being a 1st and a 2nd.

McCaffrey has played 10 games the past 2 years and has the all time college record for yardage in a season

Also I don’t recall ever saying Nick Chubb would get a king’s ransom on the open market — he wouldn’t

The walker trade happened over 30 years ago when Running Backs were the face of the NFL

Also, call me crazy but it’s possible teams learned from the walker trade.  You don’t trade multiple high draft picks for a running back

4 years as an everydown back in the nfl is a long time

The bills aren’t selling the farm to get McCaffrey as much as you guys hope they will

I’m not hoping for anything.

Your statement is just a dumb one.  Look at the best running backs in football right now.  They are all in the 26-28 year old range.

Ekeler - 27

Derrick Henry - 28

McCafferey - 26

Kamara - 27

Saquon - 27

Chubb - 26

Dalvin Cook - 27

That’s precisely my point. RBs just don’t command as much. That’s why anything more than a late 1st would be shocking. Ideally a 2nd rounder or a swap of 1st with 2nd.
