Robert Saleh addresses Elijah Moore's frustration & Duane Brown on Jets mentality

The team needs to keep the offense rolling with the run. As good as things have went so far, Zach is still looking quite mediocre. We have weapons at the WR spot but it’s not looking like Wilson can utilize them consistently. Winning builds confidence so let him learn and get better slowly as the running game keeps the pressure to a minimum. A potent passing game would be great but if Zach is throw 35-40 times a game at this point, we’re likely not winning the game. He’s not there yet.

Stop with this.

He's playing badly, not just conservatively. The idea that the team being great around him justifies Zach's poor performance is laughable. He's not converting 3rd downs, he's not keeping drives alive. We are clearly winning in spite of him and it's not sustainable long term. He has to be better.

The idea that because he isn't throwing 4 picks a game that he's doing his job as planned is just laughable. This guy was picked 2nd overall - How low can the standards actually be?

Moore is frustrated because he is anxious to keep his career on track. These guys only have so much time to get production for the next contract. So far, except for possibly Berrios the wideouts on this team have been underutilized. Its obvious the CS is game planning around the 2nd year QB who still needs to prove he can take it up a few levels before the they can expand his role.

This is a QB driven league. Look at the the 49ers. They get competent QB play from Jimmy G and yet draft a replacement because they realize in order to win it all in todays NFL you need a top 10 QB. I dont buy that this is a run 1st offense by choice. Not when you draft a guy #2.  Wilson can still be the guy but he isnt there yet. Thankfully this team seems to have enough talent to play well until he gets there.

In 1967 Joe Namath threw the ball 491 times in 14 games.  In 68 the year we went 11 and 3 and won the SB he threw the ball 380 times.   He's INT's went down from 27 to 17.  Our point differential went from 42 in 67 to 199 in 68.

It's a team sport and Zach is playing hard nose winning football on a team that's built to play hard nosed winning football.

Throwing less =/= Playing better.

Playing "hard nose winning football" is a short way of saying we don't trust the QB.

Duane Brown might just be that Tony Richardson presence we needed in the locker room, too. What a welcome addition he has been.

Add that to the fact that he’s been smashing the sh*t out of dudes in the running game from the moment he stepped on the field and his pass protection has been rock steady.

No question he’s the starting LT next year and Fant can kiss that extension goodbye.

Watching the 37 year-old Brown lead the runs and screens downfield was awesome to see and sparked the Jets O at the beginning of the 4th quarter.   His presence seems to have solidified the line and when they got rolling in the 4th they were dominant.  I get the frustration with the Moore's lack of action, but the OL man-handling the GB front 7 put the game away - it was more than the yards, it took away the packers hope.

ZW actually made all of the throws he's historically struggled with late in the game vs. GB so I'm not sure what all the negativity is about.   He made the throws he had to make and they weren't always easy.   The OL took the game over late, throwing in that situation would have been the Jetsiest thing ever.

If the 49ers had a back like Breece Hall they wouldn't have squandered their opportunity to play in multiple SB's by trading away a ton of draft capital for a project QB.

Possibly. I prefer to deal in certainties. Its certain that in todays NFL you need a Burrow, Mahommes, Allen, Brady, caliber QB to get to the promised land. We may have one but we dont know really know yet.  When the Jets take the leash off ZW hopefully we have our guy.

If you even remotely think that what EM tweeted was ok... this is why its not.  On a day after a possible franchise altering win, our coach has to entertain questions about THIS.  THIS!!

I agree it would have been better if he hadn't said anything, but it was prompted by a Cimini tweet, and he did go out of his way to say he's happy for the team.

Again, not ideal, but I'm not totally upset with players who want the ball more often . . .

The Jets are building a team based on running the football, defense and great special teams.  Typically teams built on this formula average less than 20 completions per game.  In wins the Jets will probably average under 16 completions per game.  It's only when we fall behind in shootouts where there will be a lot of passes.

Moore is the third WR in a passing offense that uses both TE and running backs.  He's likely to be very frustrated if we actually are able to do what we are being built to do.

Wilson is playing winning football exactly the way this team was built to win.

yep.  winning formula for just about forever in the nfl.  the key is to make sure the jets are capable of passing effectively when needed.  i think they've shown they can.  moore will just have to wait or get open more.  right now wgwilson is just so darn good and davis apparently has recovered from his injuries so there just aren't many balls coming his way at the moment.  but this also speaks to a bigger issue.  mims isn't on the field and seeing how this run game is coming together it could very well be that he isn't a very effective blocker.  the receivers all have to do their part in the run game.

Perfect response. Saleh’s demeanor continues to impress. The only time I think I’ve ever seen him faulted was earlier this season taking troll bait from the media.

He's a phenomenal leader, IMO.  The type of dude you'd want to work for/play for, etc.  You can tell he's read every leadership book under the sun.

Yeah him and Uzomah I think are really high class culture dudes who you love having in the lockerrom.  Uzomah literally says "gosh". Tomlison, Mosley all seem like that guy too.  Solid veteran leadership for sure.

Moore is a big part of the future he will be targeted more as we go along.  Again Packers have a good pass defense and did a great job limiting them Sunday so  we simply went with the run game which was dominant.  The important thing is winning

Keep hearing about the Packers great pass defense.  Would like to believe that is the reason ZW looked so totally lost in the first half.  My only issue is that the Patriots brought a third string QB off the bench a few weeks who pretty much tore the same great Packers secondary apart a few weeks ago.  That’s the reference point that concerns me a bit…

There were a dozen articles all week about how the Packers were changing their philosophy this week and we’re going to play more aggressive press coverage vs the Jets because what they were doing wasn’t working.

What the Pats and Giants did was exactly why the Packers were so good vs the Jets.

Also if you go back in time, not long ago, the night Wilson was drafted, Saleh explicitly laid out the plan they had for him when he told Wilson that the Jets were going to build him a support system where he could lean on the team during his “apprenticeship” and that the Jets would Not ask him to carry the team at the outset.  Almost always a recipe for disaster with a young QB.

What Saleh told him that night is now playing out before all your eyes.

They really didn't do it last year and it was a mistake.  Without the support system they probably should have let him ride the bench last year.   A major correction.

You’re right.  But better a little late than never though.

Last year was rough.  Pretty much a bottom feeding garbage roster on both sides of the ball.  They’d be down so quickly 2..3 TDs you pretty much are forced to trash the whole plan and have Wilson try to bring the team back in the last way you wanted for a Rookie.

The last five super bowls featured the likes of Jared Goff, Jimmy Garoppolo and Nick Foles/Carson Wentz.

This.

Jets are not an 'Air Raid' team. Our offense is not the greatest show on turf. Zack's not throwing it 30-40 times a game.

Our offense is more of a TE, Running attack with max protect on pass plays. We use a lot of 2 TE, 2 RB sets. Corey Davis and Garrett Wilson (along with Berrios here and there) give us all the WRs we need at this time.

It's probably more likely Moore is inactive for a game to bring another TE on board than Moore becoming the star of our O. Later in the season when Zack develops and we lean more on our passing game, Moore can become a godsent. Until then, just shadup and be a team guy. No more twitter kid.

Nick Foles has won as many SB as Wilson and Rodgers in their entire carreers and more than Burrow to date.
