Denver will be selling out to stop the run and rush the passer. Zach won’t have an obvious passing down without at least five rushers coming his way all afternoon. There’s no sugar-coating it, Zach has been bad against pressure and will continue to be harassed until he demonstrates to opponents that that’s a bad idea. So I guess the good news is that he will get to work on his shortcomings this week.

The way to beat it is to hit his hot reads and a few screens. His escapability is fun, but he has to finish those plays with positive yards. He’ll be throwing to his backs a lot simply because that’s what’s going to be available to him.

The only team to blow them up this year was the Raiders, and that was with Carr absolutely sucking. Jacobs went for 144 yards on them and they kicked a bunch of field goals. That defense is good, but like every “good” defense these days, it’s made up of a bunch of versatile 6’2”, 215-230 pound dudes flying around the field. They’re built to play against the Chiefs and Rams, not a team like the Jets who can run at them. Broncos nicked the Niners 11-10 a few weeks back because the Niners turned it over three times, but even their third string back Jeff Wilson went 12/75 on the ground.

Definitely expect another game plan of attrition. They’ll pound the running game whether it’s working or not early with the intent to beat them down and run thru them late.

I want the Jets to go sign an old-school fullback and really lean into it.

I was legitimately surprised when they let both Bawden and Wesco go in favor of Mims and Cager, and more surprised as they find their identity now as a team that’s gonna run the ball down your throat. Good week to get Ruckert involved, maybe? At the very least as another blocker.

Whatever it takes to get the dub… Run it, short passes, the occasional 20 yd square out

Some of that was by design from the Chargers, but some of it was just panicked dumping the ball off because the Broncos were getting upfield in a hurry.  This game will be tough.

If Lafleur is as good as many think he is, here is his chance to prove it. They need a game plan and he needs to scheme easy hot routes and mix in occasional deep balls. As much as people like to say ZW sucks under pressure, the entire offense sucks under pressure, the line, the receivers, and the QB. Some of that has to fall on OC

Denver likely has the top D in the league led by its pass defense.

Run the ball, passes to the back, short passes and gadget plays. Keep the train moving.

Denver is currently ranked 3rd in Defense (Yards Allowed) and 4th in Defense (Points Allowed).

They are ranked 5th against the run.

They are ranked 13th against the pass.

On the brighter side, they are currently ranked 22/32 on Offense (yards/points).

So basically Denver and the NYJ:

The Chargers OL is awful in both phases.  Their running game has been terrible outside of one bonkers game, takeaway the Clev game and Ekler is averaging like 2.9 ypc.  None of the RB's are great runners, better catchers and their offense is terrible w/out Keenan Allen.  Herbert sorely misses him as he's the only player they have that can get open consistently.  Williams is the most erratic WR in the league and he's very easy to eliminate from a game.  So they were kind of forced to use their RB's in the passing game as an extension of the run.

The Jets OL is 10x better, the Jets RB's as runners are 10x better and the Jets WR's collection is 10x better than the Chargers.  The Jets are tough match up for the Broncos.

It's ok to love again Jets fan, they're going to stomp the Broncos.

That is what the Chargers RB's caught against the Broncos. This is kind of our thing, no?

They're also giving up 4.4 a carry which is kind of middle of the roadish, but hey, we won't be able to run the ball on them, I hear.

Love this. Didn't realize the backs caught that many passes, I knew it was a lot but 14, wow.
