Becton will be ready (again)

There is no way that the CS will entrust Becton as a starter next year regardless of his draft position. He will be best suited as a backup moving forward; he is unreliable, injury prone and has displayed poor pass blocking techniques.

This first round pick was a total waste and a "Top 5" draft blunder in NY Jets history.

They're not entrusting him with anything. He's gonna be on the team. He has no trade value and will be going into final year of contract (no way they pick up 5th year). He'll be backing up mitchell at RT with the opportunity to overtake him assuming he's in peak shape and healthy.

LT will be brown as backup and a player who's not yet on the team starting. Fant will be gone.

Zero chance Brown is coming here as a backup.

Isn't he under contract? he going to retire again? Seems it is a good retirement plan if he gets played to ride the bench....

Also, this is a great sign; if Becton can be anything as a starter, we get back AVT and Max we are half way there. If somehow we don't need to replace QB, JD only needs to fill C, G, LB and maybe FS and we could have a run.

It would be great if he came back and played well but the days of counting on Becton are over

Think about how good he is getting at video games.  Over weight, out of shape....  walking with weights in his hand?

If that is professional training, I am Charles Atlas.  Yes, he is Gholsten like.

The heck you talking about. They started talking with him to back up Becton. That's 100% the reason he is here. It just so happened that, as they were in negotiations, Becton got hurt and he would have the chance to start. His contract is such that they can't cut him next season without dead money. He's on the team next year and he's the primary backup at LT.

In Mekhi’s defense no idea what the Jets were doing.

Why didn’t he just get surgery last year if he was going to miss the year anyway? Seems like they completely dropped the ball.

Because treatment for a first time patellar dislocation is generally conservative until/unless the injury reoccurs.

He competes next year and if he wins the job, he starts.  He will not be handed anything and will have to work.  I like it!!

So much wasted potential due to poor motivation and conditioning. Very unfortunate for the NY Jets and the player.

I wouldn't go this far. To me, a draft blunder is picking someone who can't play without being injured, and the Jets have made plenty of those. Roger Vick, Kyle Brady (over Warren Sapp), Calvin Pryor, just to name a few.

We know Becton can play, based on his rookie year. Yes, it hasn't worked out well, but no one can forecast injuries.

JD will move forward as if Becton is never going play another snap of football. If Becton somehow comes back and is able to play, we will have a happy conundrum.

Well put. It’s the only way you can approach this. The truth hurts, but it’s 100% better than continuing to live in fantasy land.
