i think everyone needs to be at peace with the fact that that will permeate every topic. It's unavoidable given the significance it plays in anything future state.

Jets fans, preseason:  “This season is all about Zach Wilson and whether he can make a year 2 leap.”

Also Jets fans, today:  “GAWD stop talking about Zach so much!!!”

well it's true.

Yes, it be can tedious to read, but really, what do you expect. This roster has been bereft of talent for a decade. Now it's blossoming, and we're held back by a stunted 2nd year QB and fans are frustrated as a result. Its the one position that is painfully hard to fix, and the future is murky at best.  It is what it is, batman.

i expect people to want to discuss other items than just the QB.   no doubt many are frustrated.  but this is about a great player who just won player of the month.  lots to discuss about him, new contract, why is he playing so well, etc.

but no, let's talk about zach and how much he sucks.  for the 100th time this week.

yah of course, but this is a thread about a defensive player?  why not just post in the other 20 Zach threads.  does every thread need to get derailed?

Stop making such a big deal out of it and it won't be.  Just ignore the posts.  Cuz they're not going to stop.  Responding and complaining only makes it worse.  The mods have tried and failed, for good reason.  You can't ban everyone who talks about Zach Wilson, after all.  Easier just to deal with it, no?  Cuz its part of the furniture at this point, no matter the topic.

Anyways, go Quinnen!

It’s the only thing that matters. The rest is moot…. it’s intimately tied to a decade of losing. The other topics are not salient to a fanbase starved of success. There are psychology principles at play.

Wait until we all start talking about Quinnen in every Zach Wilson thread.

With Quinnen, I think part of it was he needed to mature physically from his rookie season. It seems he's gotten stronger now than he was when he was first drafted. Additionally, sometimes it takes a coaching staff time to figure out how to use a player. Ever since Quinnen had his shouting match on the sideline, he's been getting more reps (I think) and he has taken off (along with the rest of the defense).

It's nice to see and I can very freely admit I absolutely hated the pick when he was drafted.  It was never anything against Quinnen individually, but just the mind-numbing stupidity that came with the idea that the Jets were about to use their 5th 1st rounder on a friggin DT since the team had started it's downward trend, while there were massive holes all over the entire roster.

With that said, I'll still gladly take it if this is the one that finally works out for the Jets long-term.  It's looking good right now, just as long as he doesn't turn himself into Mo Wilkerson Part Deux, who is the perfect example of why some are timid about Williams' upcoming big payday.  We kind of forget how great Wilk was while still on his rookie deal.  Certainly doesn't mean it will happen again though, but it can happen.  After all, on a similar note, pretty sure the Jets only just finished paying out Revis and Tru Johnson for their last contracts.

However, at this point so far so good, and better to have the one that you think may be worth the big payday over some of the others we've seen the Jets end up with over the years that we're just seeing how long it takes before they're cut.

Btw, I can't be the only who finds it hilarious that Max locked a thread today for "attacking posters".  The attack?  Calling out no one in particular, but referring to Zach Wilson believers/defenders as "ostriches".

This is great.  lol.

I’ve been wrong about 2 things on this forum:

1.  Josh Allen

2.  Quinnen Williams

No need to look back at my post history or anything to assess the veracity of this claim.  @faba can vouch.

Love you as a poster and greatly appreciate your insights.  We’ve all been wrong quite a bit— it’s ok if history suggests you’ve been wrong more than 2x.  What I appreciate about you and some others is that you admit when you are wrong and are both positive and negative (“balance”).

Too many are stuck to their opinions.  Just this year I’ve been wrong about:

1. Saleh

2. Ulbrich (although I still feel he was forced to make adjustments)

3. Mosley (thought he was about done)

4. Moore (thought he could be a 70 catch, 1k yards, 8 TD WR)

It’s good to admit when you are wrong, especially when a coach or player exceeds your expectations.  We’re limited to a select # of inputs, much less than our GM & Coach.

Say it loud- say it proud-  you were wrong about Q and it feels GOOD!

Unfortunately it makes the board hard to enjoy as every becomes the same thing.

you have 150k posts and I bet the vast majority were when the jets sucked.  Finally we are decent and you want to harp on the one negative?

This is an idiotic post. Sorry.

you point out a decade of losing and starved for success.

you do realize we have a winning record right?

Yes, I’m harping on the one negative, because it’s a massive one that is going to derail an otherwise awesome roster’s season.

You haven’t been around JI/JN long enough if you think I was always this way.  I was in attendance for the last 2 Jets home playoff games.  I was a massive homer until roughly 2014.

We’re starved for SUSTAINABLE success and don’t just accept having one decent season every decade.  Sounds like you need to raise your standards rather then demand we lower ours.

Meanwhile, given that @Paradis and I likely agree we’re just a QB away from big things you seem to underestimate how positive we actually are.  I’ve been on the Joe Douglas train from the jump, but because I’ve b*tched about the likes of Darnold and Wilson so much folks like you think I’m one of the most negative fans.  No, I just want a damn QB.  Is that too much to ask?

Idiotic? You obviously misunderstood me. A fanbase starved of success will be prone to reactive/divisive behavior. In other words, its not like "gee, we're just happy to be seeing some Wins".., psychologically we're likely to be critical in order to sustain said path of success... When you're not fat on the fruit of victory, your appetite is always wet.

I have been a fan for a long time as well.

why not give it a rest during threads about another player.  why not post about how Q helps to make this an awesome roster.

ZW needs to get better or he's getting replaced/competition next year.

It still is about Zach.  Without the FQB in place I don't see how we can get into serious contention.  I haven't given up on ZW but if he doesn't improve a lot this year, I think JD is going to have to do something at the position (I'm not saying dump ZW but maybe draft a QB with a high pick or bring in a guy like Jimmy G).

EDIT: The thing that makes this season easier to take, even if ZW busts, is that you can tell that we do have a lot of surrounding pieces finally in place.  It's somewhat of a "plug and play" type situation.  OTOH, it's hard to keep a team together for very long in the salary cap era.  So JD better not waste these couple of years with this talented young defense.  Though I do love that we can actually talk about defense making a difference in the NFL again!
