Line just dropped to -4.5 so early $ was on the NYJ.

Over/Under is 39.5 so Vegas literally thinks this thing is going to be another 22-17 type game.

Well the only thing that has changed is the Jets upset the Bills as 12.5 point underdogs, but that doesn't change the fact that with essentially the same rosters New England beat the Jets 22-17 a week and a half ago.

Thought it would be a td, maybe more.  I think that spread is low.  The Jets have showed nothing to indicate they can beat Belicheck in the Pats in, I dont know.................13 games.

Got to beat them in order to get the respect.  Doesnt happen the other way around.

It was a different type of loss IMO.

The typical NE loss involves the Jets coming out flat and subsequently getting run out the building.

This was a game the Jets were in full control of. They just completely lost their composure from a couple of bad plays.

Wilson did not lose the game against the Pats.  The penalty on JFM changed the game completely.  The first time we got the ball in the second half we were trailing.  They dominated TOP in the second half with their run game.   No they didn't get a ton of yards but they ran the ball 34 times.  They had 69 total offensive plays the Jets ran the ball 15 times and had a total of 56 offensive plays.  That's outright lossing football in the NFL.

We took an interception and a TD off the board with a dumb penalty.  We lost the lead before we got the ball back in the second half.  We abandoned the run game completely.

Zach certainly didn't play well but the Pats controlled the clock and had the lead.  That's not how the Jets win football games.

The D has to stop the Pats run game and the Jets have to be able to run the ball.  The Pats don't have a big time O.   Get a lead and run the football.

You can argue that BB ended Darnolds Jet career. Sam had 9 INT in 4 games vs BB (one game was with  Panthers)

BB is on pace to do the same thing with Zach Wilson. Wilson has 7 INTs in just 9 quarters vs BB. In 64 quarters vs everyone else Wilson only has 9 INTs.

is the good wilson or the bad wilson going to show up?  the jets can win this game but not if wilson doesn't play well.  maybe that applies to all games but wilson was exceptionally bad when they played the patsies.  they have 2 weeks to prepare for this game.  the patsies don't do anything special beyond cheating and as long as they keep them off of short fields on offense they won't score many points.

Link?

the last sentence gives me hope for Wilson.  9 interceptions over essentially a year is pretty good.

and over the last 12 games (excluding the pats games) he's had what 4 interceptions.

the Jets now have to clean up the sacks as those are drive killers.

That JFM penalty killed any momentum there was, but throwing 3 interceptions in a 5 point loss? That was on Zach. Zach makes 1 less interception and the Jets win that game.

Hopefully he's learned from that game and his Bills performance becomes more consistent or his play keeps improving.

Go back and look at the game.  The Pats took a 3 point lead with their opening drive of the second half.   The Jets got the ball on their own 25.  Wilson had 2 completions for 45 yards on the next possession before Zuerlin missed a 45 yard FG.   The next possession the Pats drive for a FG.  6 point lead.  We go 3 and out followed by a punt and a 32 yard punt return setting them up for another FG.  9 point lead.  Zach's next INT lead to a FG 12 point lead.  Zach proceeded to drive us down the field to the 35.  We pass on the FG and go for a 4th and 5.

We lost by 5 we missed a 45 yard FG and passed on a 35 yard FG in a 5 point game.  We were unable to run and abandoned the run.

I look at that loss as a combination of QB play, Defensive penalty, bad special teams and bad in game coaching decisions.  Blaming that loss soley on Zach is a bad take.

The penalty of JFM set NE up to have a lead when we got the ball in the third quarter.  The missed FG set up the coaching staff to go for a very iffy 4th and 5.  LaFleur became impatient and completely gave up on the run game.

The Jets have been winning with great special teams, real good D and running the football, a few chunk plays in the passing game and no turnovers.  We didn't do the things that win football games against the Pats.  We weren't good on specials.  We couldn't run the ball on the Pats and the D would have won the game anyway if it wasn't for a terrible penalty.  We passed the ball a lot.  Zach made some great throws but was mostly running around trying to figure out the Pats D.  He made 2 real lazy throw aways that lead to 2 ugly picks.  Probably a good learning experience.

It was simply a game where we got out of what we do to win.  Credit to the Pats.  They're really good at winning ugly games.

okay but some of this has to go on lafleur for letting wilson pass 41 times in the first game.  they had plenty of time to continue running the ball.  the patsie offense was pretty tepid so they wouldn't have scored many points if they were given a short field.

LaFleur has two weeks to implement a gameplan against an opponent he just played. The Jets defense more talented than the Pats offense. The game hinges on he and Zach.

i hope you're right.  the jets have a history of coming out flat after the bye and patsies have been giving the young jets qb's fits.  last sunday wilson played the type of game that will the patsies.

A) Don’t turn the ball over.

b) Focus on Rhamondre.

c) Limit penalties.

d) Play a clean special teams game.

Do “A,” and any one of “b,” “c,” or “d,” and New England probably can’t beat the Jets.

Jets are better almost everywhere on the roster.

Last time around we gave up one TD and 5 FGs. More than one FG was on a short field after an INT or a punt return.

Here are the Patsie scoring drives:

16 plays, 62 yards, FG

7 plays , 13 yards, FG

8 plays, 62 yards, TD

10 plays, 34 yards, FG

4 plays, 0 yards, FG

4 plays, 4 yards, FG

That's three "cheap" FGs in a game we lost by 5 points. Plus we had our own missed FG etc.

Rule No 1 playing New England - don't beat yourself. Their offense is not going to put up a ton of points against our defense. We know their weapons - Stevenson hurt us last time, Myers too. Mainly Nick Folk.

If we get a Bills game effort out of the offense we will score more than 20 points against NE. Commit to the run, don't turn it over, play field position. Take the opportunities when you get them.

MLF will need to trust his QB and put together a balanced game plan.  Pats will stack the box to limit the run, press our WRs and apply pressure to ZW.

Pats came within a whisker of double digit sacks last Sunday.
Wilson can’t jump the pocket and run around aimlessly…as he is prone to do.

A win against the Pats would make our Jets a “heavy” favorite to make the playoffs.
Who woulda thunk it?
