Let's avoid the terrible passing D and let a backup tear them up and then put Zach back in against the Vikings and Bills. Makes no sense. He should have been given a half to play and then yanked if he wasn't doing well. It should have been a confidence building game. He must have acted pretty badly behind the scenes.

That’s why it’s not a short term move - you don’t do this planning on 1 week.

Not sure it means he is done.  Tua was benched in Miami and look at him now.   I think he gets a chance to win the job back before next season, but he is not going to be given anything.

I think this is the right move for this team right now.  We have a chance at playoffs and can't afford to prioritize a young QBs development ahead of the other 52 guys fighting for a playoff spot.  Might be different if he was showing some progress, but so far this season, every step forward is followed by one or two steps back.

thats because he is not coming back against those teams. this is a nice warm up game to get the rust out for the new QB. this QB isnt just here to play one game even if he is bad.

This tells me they were gonna lose the locker room if they trotted him out there OR Woody came in swinging his pecker. Either way it’s for the best even though the alternatives are probably almost as bad.

So it's a huge loss for this franchise if that's the case. He's only 22, right? Coin flip says we lose to the Bears and then win 5. Maybe he's down for a game and plays well the rest of the year.

It is a bad move, but an understandable one betting because the players themselves probably told coach they would mutiny if he put him in. I can see that as what happened.

Didn't think they would bench Zach.  Think its pretty clear the coaching staff and JD think this is a team that can make a run with adequate QB play.

You don’t take him down against a bad defense if that’s what you are playing at. The next QB will look good against this Bears defense. It’s the ideal setup to get the next QB going though.

This.  Saleh is not only thinking about this year.  He can’t afford to lose the locker room for years to come.
