Schefter: Zach Not Starting Sunday, White to Start

Taht is what I would assume.  IFew weeks ago when they promoted White to #2 and deactivated Flacco, they seemed to have made the decision that White would be next in line.    I wonder if Zach will even be active Sunday.

I have 2 thoughts on this; 

- Zach Wilson has lost the team w/ his tone deaf arrogance and nobody has confidence in him and nobody likes him and he didnt take feedback well and the coaches are over it.

- The Jets fear Wilson losing 3 games to players drafted after him on a significantly better team than both Jones and Fields, w/ also, Trevor Lawrence coming up as well.

I mean, he's also the worst QB in the NFL so there is that too but 2 weeks ago Saleh said Wilson was the starter for the rest of the season.  I think it's bigger than his performance on Sunday.  I truly believe that it's not just that he sucks.  I think he's got a stench on him too.

I think that is exactly what happened.

The vibe you get from the tweets and snipets of info is some/most are not fans of Zach. If most of those voices are your playmakers, then you have to do what is best for the team.

Some of you are such drama queens.  Zach is nowhere near done here.  This staff and GM love him.  He is 22 years old and struggling.  He needs time off to reset and re-calibrate.

I think this is the right move for this team right now.  We have a chance at playoffs and can't afford to prioritize a young QBs development ahead of the other 52 guys fighting for a playoff spot.  Might be different if he was showing some progress, but so far this season, every step forward is followed by one or two steps back.  

I agree.  If this means Zach is done and it's not because he's clearly out played, than his mental make up is so fragile he doesnt belong in the league to begin with...2 HOF HC's have benched their young QB's this year.  This shouldnt be a death blow to Wilson if has any type of balls

Agreed!  And not just Tua..... we just watched this same thing transpire with BB. I think Zach regaining starter is possible but I think it's on Zach too earn it both on the field and the locker room.

Falccid is never taking another snap for this team ever again.  They told you what they thought of him after they demoted him.  He was awful out there.

Its Mike White moving forward and Strev will be active and getting wildcat snaps.

Yup.  And I think the other factor is the reaction of the vets in the locker room.  The guys who spoke on Monday said the right things publicly, but I have to think it was getting ugly behind the scenes.

Tough love. Time will tell if Zach takes it the right way. As lith posted I believe, Tua and Macc were both benched. 
 

Surprising in that the message has been we’re all in on Zach but at the end of the day this is a dominant, Super Bowl defense and outside of the PR lol very very good special teams. The run game is meh without Hall, but a game manager QB can do damage with this offense.  Getting Davis and herbutt back should also help.  
 

It’s all up to Zach now, grow or fold.

JD has been building the roster to be competitive with our without Zack.   With a smarter game managing QB the team will be in playoff contention. I really hope Zack can turn it around in the future but I wouldn't count on it.

For them to do this, this also probably means that at least one qb in the qb room has been out performing him behind the scenes. This isn’t done if you don’t think the guy behind him is significantly better. Not with that draft investment. Good for the jets for doing what’s in the best interest of the team.

Flacco needs to be the starter. He’s guided a team with an elite defense before in Baltimore. Jets need a vet prescence right now.

I personally think Wilson is done here. If we were 3-8 right now, then you could potentially bring Wilson back next year. But how could you not go after somebody bigger next year and bring Wilson back to a team that’s fully ready to compete when healthy. The only chance he gets is, if white completely fails, and Wilson performs big-time when he returns at some point this season.

If mike white can execute a basic offensive game plan and they move the ball and win not only will it illustrate how bad ZW is but it may inspire better veteran qbs to want to come here next year b/c they can win.

Yeah but he was glowing about him earlier this year.offseason, saying he's playing like a playoff QB.
