Depending on how this season ends up offensively, I could see him being
brought in next year in the role Greg Knapp was supposed to have.  He
was the OC in PHI (when they won the SB) so he has a connection with
Douglas.  If we don't see improvement on the offensive side of the ball
I could see a "gray head" like Reich coming in to be a resource

It's been proven time and again that coaching is more important than individual players. I can only hope JD shares that opinion . . .

That would be a HR hire. There a chance he might have grown up a Jets fan too. So reseting his career with the Jets night be desirable for him.

He should get a second chance as a head coach at some point. He’s good.

Theres a real chance Reich may get a chance this offseason coaching cycle and not even need to wait.

It's well understood that he was given sh*te in Indy to work with.

Quite a demotion to Knapp’s role don’t you think? I would think he’d take an OC position before babysitting Zach with positive vibes only
Reich will be taking a nice paid vacation for at least the next year! $9mil this season alone!

I have argued with some that Greg Knapps tragic passing (and not to make this all about football, clearly this man was more than that to his family and loved ones), was maybe the single biggest factor in not only Zachs lack of development, but also the offenses struggles at times. Knapp was the respected QB developer that we havent had since Dabol, Knapp was the guy that had been there and done it.  He was the veteran voice the offense needed.

Frank Reich would be one of the biggest Jets coaching acquisitions that could possibly be made.  The problem is, a guy of his stature, taking that role here will not be something that he will look at right away.  Especially after being told not to take the HC job by others before hand (Boomer told him to stay far away). Just being realistic, while he is by far the single best hire we could make to help Zach and to help this offense, I cannot see a way in which he is brought in and not hired as an OC somewhere else or even given another HC position (many feel he got a very raw deal working for an eccentric owner in Irsay).

They’re in about as worse a situation as the Colts were when Reich was there. I doubt he’s taking an HC job for a team that just had a fire sale

Colts hired Reich with an expectation to win now. Then Luck suddenly retired and they were a QB away. They gave him Wentz and then Ryan and things only got worse.

In Carolina, there is no expectation to win now. He will be given time to build the team. Plus, they will pay him MILLIONS of dollars. He will not get MILLIONS of dollars as the Jets QB coach or OC.

That would be awesome. They are sorely lacking in that area - noone on their staff has ever developed a QB. That's the biggest knock I have on the coach - you needed to replace Knapp and they haven't. A barely 30 year old that never played in the NFL is responsible for bringing a #2 overall pick up to speed in the NFL? Geesh. We need someone that is well respected, like Reich, to come in and help Zach AND Mike White for that matter.

if Woody/JD/Saleh were smart they would back up the Brinks truck for him and force feed him to be OC

give the little midget a TO like they did for Mims/Moore/Zach and others with smaller roles

let MLF be the passing game coordinator like he was in SF and try to work his way back to OC again here or elsewhere.

Benton is the run game coordinator so this structure would be similar to 49ers.

none of this will happen tho

Sign me up now. Can we hire him in-season? Sounds like we need a respected offensive coach in the buulding

Reich floor is an OC position.  Hes not taking a lesser role then that.

He’s likely getting a HC job in the next two seasons regardless of title. Taking a bad OC job is not better than taking a senior offensive assistant position in a good situation for him.

Dont know if he thinks the Jets are good situation though. For example, if Houston doesn't get the first pick, I wouldn't tough that role if I were him.
