1. D.J. Reed, Jets- 3 Years, $33M, $21M guaranteed

While all of the attention on the Jets defensive turnaround has been focused on the great play of 1strounder Sauce Gardner, it has been the addition of Reed that has prevented the opposition from taking advantage of the matchups across from Gardner. Reed has been fantastic this year allowing under 9 yards per reception and building on his breakout season in Seattle last year and has yet to miss a snap. Reed is the 18th highest paid corner in the NFL and is ranked 11thin coverage by PFF and carries the 5th highest OTC CB valuation at just under $20 million. An incredible bargain paying immediate dividends for the Jets.

10. C.J. Uzomah, Jets- 3 Years, $24M, $15M guaranteed

Most things have gone right for the Jets this year, but they missed on Uzomah who was targeted to be a receiver in the offense and has instead simply played the role of an expensive, average blocker. Uzomah had a career year with the Bengals in 2021, playing over 70% of the snaps and snagging 49 receptions. This year he is playing under 50% of the offensive snaps and may not reach 20 receptions. Uzomah has $7 million guaranteed next year and a cap hit of $10.3 million.

Fatukasi named 5th worst free agency signing.. Bullet dodged.

5. Folorunso Fatukasi, Jaguars- 3 Years, $30M, $20M guaranteed

Fatukasi left the Jets to join the Jaguars in free agency, but it has been a rough change so far for the defensive lineman. Fatukasi is grading under 60 on the year by Pro Football Focus. He has been credited with 15 tackles, none for loss, a big drop from last year where he had 46 tackles, 5 for loss with the Jets. You would expect these numbers from a sub $3 million player. He has provided similar pass rush numbers to last season but the Jaguars are looking for more overall consistency. He has a $12.8M cap figure next season and his salary is guaranteed.

2022 SEASON STATS:

SOLO TACKLES

12T-66th

ASSISTS

4T-90th

SACKS

0

FORCED FUMBLES

I'm not gonna lie.  I wanted the Jets to bring back Fatukasi, but not for $30M!  I guess that's why the Jaguars are the Jaguars, right?

Not gonna write uzomah off yet. The jets have a talented group of pass catchers that can’t be utilized because of our awful qb play. Zach is benched now and while I think some people are making white out to be better than he is, white does appear competent enough to be able to hit the easy to intermediate passes that Zach struggled to hit. TEs could see an uptick in production as we do know that white is quick with his decisions.

The lack of production by Uzomah IMO is a MLF problem.

Simply put, MLF has not shown himself capable of scheming game plans that integrates all of the Jets weapons. He has had crazy game plans that failed to feature Uzomah, Moore and Garrett Wilson.

Couple this with MLF’s bazaar playing calling, ie having a struggling Zach Wilson throw the ball 40+ times when the running game was fine in a game the Jets were in showed panic, plain and simple and something a guy playing Madden wouldn’t do

Again, something is not right, and he better get it fixed immediately or he will be in trouble cause the so called problem in Zach Wilson is no longer there as his convenient and obvious shield.

true.

do we reallty think that Moore was the only one open and not getting the ball?

By now I think we’ve all seen enough video clips of balls that were never thrown to guys who were wide open. It’s why, in my opinion, MLF should not be criticized at this point. This team has guys that can get open, and they all should be frustrated that they are doing their job and they can’t do anything about their stats. All these guys have a chance to make life changing money and their qb is sabotaging that. Moore should have handled the situation a bit better but I can def understand why he was upset earlier in the season.

Factor in that he went from the Penthouse : Burrow, to the outhouse: Wilson.

Prorated his 10 receptions to date are really 20 thus far.

Same here.. But for me it was for the Far Rockaway connection ,but at that price?? Hell no.. Looks like that Jags historic spending spree isn't paying off.

Absolutely... he's a great team guy and just hadn't gotten too many targets

Great team guy because he already got paid. Now, maybe he would still be a team player but let’s be real. The players who are getting fed up are the ones looking for their monster second contracts.

You think the jets sign Conklin if they viewed CJ as a pass catcher?

He's barely running routes. He's pretty much doing what they signed him to do and Conklin is doing what he was signed to do.

Would you pay a blocking TE $8mil per with $15m guaranteed?

You get that in the draft

Did anyone expect uzomah to much more than a blocker?

Yes, many people.

I took several neg-reps for pointing out Uzomah was likely going to be no better as a receiver here than the guy we cut loose that was here before him (Ryan Griffin).

Griffin in 2021 had 216 yards and 2 TD's.

Uzomah in 2022 has 82 yards and 0 TD's.

I'm sure those folks are now in this thread, saying "he's what we expected him to be".

Some of us know better, lol.

Reed has been fantastic and deserves the recognition of the #1 FA signing.  He signed for very reasonable money, and he's been a big part of the shutdown defense the Jets have established.  He always graded out well in Seattle, so it's a bit baffling why he wasn't more sought after around the league.

Uzomah's production has been disappointing, but he is one of the top leaders on the team, and that is an important role for a young team.  It would be nice if his snap count increased and he started producing more in the passing game.  If I recall correctly, the same happened last year.  He really started to come on during the late part of the season and in the playoffs.  Conklin is and was always going to be a threat to cut into Uzomah's numbers.

I was actually mad at the Jaguars for overspending on Fatukasi, because I wanted him on the Jets.  However, sometimes things just work out, and it certainly did for the Jets!!!
