Some Perspective

The first weekend in December is almost over and...

1. Two teams have been statistically eliminated (with a few others circling the drain) and neither of them are the Jets.

2. Not only are we not. statistically eliminated, we are sitting in the last playoff position. So more than meaningful games in December

3. We lost today, but to the team with the 2nd best record in the League - were down by 2 TDs early and we were siting in the position to win the game within the last 2 minutes - TWICE. This was against a team that has a tremendous 2nd half point differential (50+ points before today). Yep it sucked that we lost, but last year, this team (and other not nearly as good) take the lead and blow us out the door.

4. We have already beaten our record last year and will likely not only double it, but also close above 500. We should go 10 wins and still have a shot at the playoffs.

5. We have only lost 2 games by more than a TD.

6. There are 3 AFCE teams that are currently slotted to the playoffs and the Pats are the odd team out and have 3 tough games left.

We collectively imo just raised expectations a bit too high too early after a very good game vs chicago.

I was not surprised we lost today, I think we lose to Buffalo as well.  My target games were detorit, jax and seattle and then at 10 wins we have a chance but might fall short this year.

i think it's the first time i've been upset about a jets loss in a long time.  this was one of the most important games they have played in over 10 seasons and it really hurts that they lost.  granted they can still go 3-2 and probably make the playoffs but the door just edged that much more closed.  and the game was in their grasp.  at least it looks like the qb situation is settled for the rest of the season.  i don't see how they can go back to wilson if they are still in the playoff hunt.

The 2nd NE game was 10x more important!  I'm still trying to figure out who it was on.  Zack for playing so crap or Saleh for not pulling him.

Just look at our 2022 draft. We got three impact players (including Breece Hall) plus 2 promising DLs and a potentIal starting OL.

Best draft I can remember in my lifetime, and it's not even a year old.  Excited to see how JJ continues to progress.  Same for Mitchell and Clemons.  Also looking forward to Ruckert getting his shot.  In the past a "successful draft" in my mind was hitting on our 1st.  There's a chance, when all is said and done, not only do we hit on all 3 of our firsts but every single pick we made in this draft.  We're honestly just Ruckert turning into a solid #2 TE from that being a reality.  That's pretty absurd.

But yes, I agree with the overall sentiment.  Expectations for this year going in were progression and development.  Maybe 7-10.  8-9 if things really went well.  Now we're battling for a playoff spot in December.  The young guys have been fantastic.  We may have found our franchise QB(although not who we expected).  We've got a great core on offense AND defense.  There are finishing touches that need to be made, but if White is legit I don't believe any of these "needs" will be too difficult to address.  Add a stud LB through the draft(Trenton Simpson?), perhaps a quality C prospect in the 2nd round, find a receiving TE and upgrade the safety position.... this team will be ready to contend on a yearly basis.

All comes down to White(and Zach) though.

i guess that's true in the sense it would be great to finally slay that beast but i think this minny game looms larger in the context of this season.  after the patsie loss they had to win 4 out of the next 7 to reach 10 wins.  now they have to win 3 of the next 5.  the door closed a little more.
