Jets Drop Passes; Vikings Drop Jets in 27-22 Contest

Mike White

This one just wasn’t meant to be.  Following a sluggish start from their offense, due largely in part to multiple dropped passes, the Jets couldn’t overcome their own mistakes and lost 27-22 to the Minnesota Vikings.

The costliest drop of the day came late in the fourth quarter with under two minutes to go when Braxton Berrios failed to hold on to what would have been the go-ahead touchdown.  The Jets would get one more possession with time winding down before Mike White threw his second interception of the day.

White’s first pick came on a catchable pass thrown to Corey Davis who was unable to hold on as he was hit by a defender.  The ball the popped up in the air, coming down into the arms of a waiting Vikings defender.

Denzle Mims and Tyler Conklin also had key drops that killed drives while Elijah Moore failed to get a second foot down on what initially appeared to be a key completing.  Broadcasters were quick to point out the fact that Moore appeared to have plenty of room to get his foot down but it didn’t happen.

Aside from the drops, the Jets did themselves no favors in the red zone.  Gang Green allowing the Vikings to hold them to field goals on their first five scores before a late Mike White TD run finally helped the Jets find the end zone.  But it wasn’t enough.

After the Jets defense clamped down on the Vikings inside of their own five-yard line and forced a punt, White would force an interception on his 57th and final throw of the game.  White would finish the day 31-57 for 369 yards and a pair of INT’s to go with his touchdown run.

The loss leaves the jets at 7-5 with the Buffalo Bills up next on the road.
