Who's getting the rock tomorrow?

Carter is good to go full strength so who's going to get the most touches against the Bills.

Bam has looked explosive and has fresh legs.

What's everybody think?

I've got a selfish motive for info/opinions as I as I have them both on the roster for a crucial FF playoff seating tomorrow.

I think they'll split touches and coach will go with the hotter hand in the real game but starting them both obviously hoses FF numbers.

Jets backfield is a mess from a FF perspective and I'd avoid it. If I was forced to bet on one guy it would be Bam.

Carter was missed in the passing game last week because White loves throwing to him. Bam Knight had the one big run, but averaged 3.7 ypc outside of that. If Milano doesn’t play, you can see Carter catching 8-10 passes tomorrow

Good point! MW gave him 14 targets in the Cincy win last season.

I think Bam is better and should get more touches than Carter, who’s more suited to a second back role anyway.

Bam is a bit more North and South and runs down hill. Carter is more shifty and can weave in and out if traffic, both along with Johnson will be needed this week. Robinson likely will be the odd man out.

45% Carter, 35% Knight, 20% Johnson

Seems about right, if Carter is back to 100%.

Just a hunch, I have a feeling Bam is taking over the Breece Hall role and Carter will go back to what he was doing before Breece got hurt. I think you'll see them both in the backfield this week like we saw with Breece. I think the Jets would love to get back to those types of formations bc it puts a lot of pressure on the defense schematically. It's also something I'm not sure Buffalo would prepare much for since they didn't see it in the first matchup.

It's become a Sunday tradition for me to miss Breece Hall and wonder what could have been. We have had our share of injuries, but no one player would make as much of a difference as Hall. My internet search history has a troubling number of searches related to long term impact of knee ligament damage, odds of reinjuring repaired knee ligaments, and former RB's that came back from knee ligament damage.

As far as who gets the rock? I don't know, but none of them are difference makers.Let's hope they can at least be competent.

I’d assume each running back will be given the rock  at different times during the game.

I can visualize this statement coming out of Little Carmine Lupertazzi's mouth in a Soprano's episode

Never ever understood that with running backs.  Wouldn't the OL blocking and defensive alignment and down and distance have as much to do with yards gained as "hot hand?"

Well, yeah, but RBs obviously bring skillsets that can help in different scenarios.  Sometimes the one-cut guy can be more effective on a particular series.  Sometimes it’s the pass-catching threat.  Other times you need the guy that can dance in the backfield a bit to make something out of nothing.  Later in the game you need your “thumper” to close out a game.

It’s easier to say “go with the hot hand” than it is to say “use the back that’s most effective based on the packages you’re facing and what their weaknesses are.”  The D isn’t always equipped to deal with the same back on every possession.  And since we don’t have Breece, who was good in any scenario, hot hand indeed can be the best play.

In 1 simple word, no.. whoever has that little "extra" that day gets it... it's really not too difficult to understand at all... imo.
