It's time to start Zach Wilson again!

This is not about the future of the Jets, it's about the future of this season.  After the Jets lost to the Patriots the second time, I said that starting Zach Wilson the next game against the Bears was a "no-brainer".  I also said that I wasn't concerned about starting Mike White against the Bears, but I was concerned with him starting after the Bears.

You might be thinking right now that I am just a stupid Jets fan, and you might be right.  I could care less what anyone thinks.  You probably are pointing to the stats, how Mike is getting the entire offense involved, and how everyone loves him on the team.  I don't care about any of that.  I care about wins and losses, and on my scorecard, Zach is 5-2 this season, Mike White is 1-2, and Flacco is 1-2.

Zach, while I will not tell you that he is the future of this team after this year, I believe that he has shown the ability to evade sacks, can move around the pocket, and run when we need him to run.  Mike White is continuing to prove to me that he is a very good back-up QB, but not the guy who will get us to the Super Bowl.  Zach is 5-0 against every opponent he has gone against this season not named the Patriots, and If I were the head coach, I would have started Zach against the Bears (we still would have won the game), and see how he responded after the poor performance against the Patriots.  Let's not forget that he came from behind and got us a win against Buffalo at home, and was gritty in his performance, though not spectacular.

It is disturbing to me how easily Mike White can get Moore and Mims involved in the game, but not Zach.  While this is troubling, I only care about getting the wins right now.  Next year is next year, and I would make it a priority to bring in a established QB to compete with Zach and Mike White, and make it an open competition.

Too long of a post but my response is a hard no.

I realize that I am in the minority.  I understand how you feel. I want results, before the season is gone.  Zach gave us more of the results that Jets fans really care about, and that's wins.

So the Jets beat the Vikings and/or the Bills these last two weeks with Zach at QB?  Is that your argument?

My argument is that Mike White lost both of those games starting QB, and with Zach, we will never know, will we?  But we do know that he was 5-2, and as far as I'm concerned, deserved to continue to start, at least against the Bears, and see how he would have responded after the Patriots loss.

I'm a huge ZW guy

.. I think it's best to keep him sidelined till Aug and give him a fair shot to compete for the starting gig.

I don't disagree with you.  But, as a long suffering Jets fan, I want excitement this season, and I feel that Zach would have given us that.

Put it this way, if the Jets beat Detroit with Mike White, then the argument to continue with Mike would be the correct one.  If Mike White and the Jets lose to Detroit, then you watch and see how many Jets fans want to turn back to Zach! Only then it will be too late for this season.

Saleh really backed himself into a corner with his bullsh*t explanation of how the #2 pick in the draft can’t prep to be the backup AND practice his drops lol
it’s obvious to me that after Saleh came out of the Monday meeting with Zach after the cheaters game that something happened in the meeting that got Zach sent to time out.

Well I’m shocked the situation is getting max Jetsy and now Saleh needs Zach to save the season.  Never saw that coming.
If MW is cleared and wants to play that’s great, but if Saleh puts Flacco as the back up buckle up kids it’s going to get weird lol
I am not sure .. Zack was essentially near Sanchez broken ... I think the reset was a smart move and also would not be upset if ZW doesn't enter into the conversation until Training Camp .. where he either destroys the competition or continues to sit.

I'm one of the few left who thinks ZW has a shot on this team and I don't think he should start again until he beats out a quality starter for the job. If that means bringing on a new guy in the offseason then let that happen. I don't want to see him start because MW and Flacco both end up sucking or something like that. He needs a major reset.
.. yeah .. this is where I am too. It's too early in his career to cut bait .. but he needs time to reset and get better.

There’s no bringing in a veteran to compete with White and Zach next year. White is an unrestricted free agent, so if he’s on the team that means we gave him a contract for pretty good money, where he’d most likely be the starter. In my opinion the only way we bring in a veteran is if they don’t re-sign White and Zach and Strevler are the only quarterbacks on the roster.

So, the worst QB by far on this team is Zach, and he is 5-2 this year, while the other 2 QB's are a combined 2-4?  This game is about results, and the results don't match your argument.

Jets had a 1-2 record with Zach Wilson after Breece Hall went down, and Zach played awfully in one of them and subpar in another.

The 49ers, running the same offense, beat the Buccaneers, Tom Brady and Bowles’ defense with Brock Purdy at QB.

Zach Wilson still can’t run the offense right.  Neither can Trey Lance.  But Purdy, and Jimmy G, and Mike White can.

The key to this offense is really the OL, YAC WRs, TEs and RBs.   The QB just has to be capable.

ZW will get a chance to be one of two QBs the Jets play in 2023.  We are basically stuck with him, unless someone offers us a decent trade for 2024 cap.  Not 2023.

Anyone who thinks that the Wilson’s are going to let Zach sit on the bench for two years leading up to his next contract is kidding themselves.

This would be a good week to re-activate Zach ahead of Flacco, but White should and will start as long as he’s healthy to go for at least the next two weeks.

Forgive me for playing the "what-if" game, but if White is not healthy to go, then it's obvious from your statement that Zach should start.  And if Zach has a good game and beats the Lions, then what?

From what everyone is saying on this board, then Mike White should get his starting job back.  That is where I would not agree.

How many wins do you envision Zach getting without Breece Hall? I know we can confidently say Denver would have been an L

Only if MW is injured and can't play. If MW can go he should start. I have no interest in seeing Flacco ever again on a football field.....

I would agree that it's time to make Zach QB2

We need to win games whatever QB gives us best chance here and now Flacco is done he should never take a snap in the NFL again.

ZW is done here, time to move on. The fans are completely done with ZW, and it seems as though the team is too. no way Saleh lets the team run around with MW shirts and interview him and all the hot quotes the team has had about MW if ZW had any future here. If MW doesnt pan out, its on to another QB for next year, some vet signing. ZW's days are done, he never throws a pass as a Jet again

Who exactly besides us would pay MW a premium salary?

You didn't read a word I typed, did you?

Please forgive me.  I did read the other part of what you typed, and I agree with your argument.  But I saw red when I read your last sentence, and I responded to that.  I don't love any of our quarterbacks to be honest.  I just think that Zach gives us the best chance to win, even with the handicap of the offensive coordinator not always giving us the best chance to win.
