Jets fans should keep an eye on Gardner Minshew in this matchup. QB was traded to Philly after the Jags took Lawrence and is stuck behind MVP Hurts.

I was about to say this... It's an excellent preview of what he's made of.

Against a good defense too

Just like the sun goes rises daily, running type QBs get injured.

You forgot to add..

..at a lower rate than "pocket passers"..

..and more often are injured in the pocket than running..

The average career of "running" QBs is something like 11 years to 13 years for "pocket" QBs.

You can argue that those numbers are skewed because the greater number of "pocket" passers, but they're percentages.

I think the perception is affected because many "running" QBs aren't proficient passers so when they come back and don't have the ability to run, it seems more severe.

No one calls Mike White a running QB and it didn't take long for him to go out just as much as 'runner' Wilson did.  QBs have the ball on every single play and often are the target on 50%+ of those plays which is much higher than any other position.

How much running did Mike White do? QBs get hurt. It doesn't matter what 'type' of QB it is.

Running QBs statistically get hurt more than QBs that don't run. In fact, there are very few examples of running QBs that don't get hurt often (See Josh Allen). Players like Mike White will get hurt, but it's much less common.

Statistically? In the NFL or college too? What’s the sample size? Over what time period?

Source material? I've seen and read things to the contrary.

I meant logically, because it makes sense. My bad for using the wrong word. However I'm having trouble finding many starting running QBs that haven't gotten injured in the past 2 seasons and I can find multiple pocket passers who haven't gotten hurt in the past 2. Maybe that's just because there's more pocket passers but I don't know.

Also, what would define a 'running qb'? Because I wouldn't count Zach Wilson as one, for example, but others might.

That's not true. Most studies have shown that "running" QBs get hurt at a lower rate than "pocket" QBs. Also that percentage wise, there are more injuries "in the pocket" than "on a  run"
