Mike Florio makes an argument that the Jets problem reside with ownership

Recommended Posts

On ProFootballTalk posted a video on Youtube this morning regard the Jets situation in light of the debacle in the Meadowlands last (Thursday) Night. The video is 38 Minutes long but well worth the time to view. Florio points out that Zach Wilson's time with the Jets has come to an end. Nit because Zach's performance in the game was dreadful but the likelihood of righting the situation in New York in the near future is unlikely. Florio has pointed out the Jets have devoted 3 Very Early Draft Picks in top quarterback prospects all of them to come up lemons. That includes Mark Sanchez. Shareen also points out the Jets had Geno Smith who they would also jettison. And Smith would find success with Seattle. Florio then points out that if the very bad situation Zach turns ugly the Jets will wind up on The No Draft List with future top prospects. Florio points out the common thread is this series of debacles is not the head coach, not the Front Office but sits squarely with Ownership.

Florio points out the Jets have a winning with a glaring hole at QB. And if its not rectified quickly the entire operation could implode.

I won't post a link but will post the video's title. Plug it into the search engine.

New York Jets' playoff hopes die along side Wilson's career in NY

The Jets have a four-game losing streak w/their #2 overall pick imploding, now everyone in need of an article and viewership comes out of the woodworks to speculate. Bottom line, the kid wasn't ready, by any means. Their problem is with picking the sexy pick, not the smart pick. Passing on Deshaun Watson in the 2017 draft, kid was a no-brainer even w/concerns over his arm-talent [prior to his gross sexual misconduct being exposed] and most recently passing on Justin Fields for Wilson.

So he's saying Woody Johnson isn't doing a good enough job developing Zach Wilson's mechanics...  OK, that makes sense.

Sanchez didn't have success anywhere else, and neither did Geno until 10 years later.  Moronic take.

Yea, i get that piling on woody is popular, but if Mann doesn’t make his heroic tackle two years ago, does Woody become a better owner because we draft Trevor Lawrence instead of Wilson? What if Big Macc preferred Josh Allen over Sam Darnold? Would Woody suddenly be cool?

there’s a lot of luck involved here, and at the end of the day, you are still only talking about a handful of QBs, and most guys bust anyway.

Tebow and Favre seemed like publicity moves by Woody but it’s been covered to death how Maccagnan lusted for Sam and JD fell in love with Zach.

The Mississippi bandit was definitely someone Woody pushed for, but Tanny has been open about the fact that he pushed hard for Tebow.

That is the singular dumbest piece of nonsense I've ever read.

Woody finally hired the consensus best GM available who he allowed to hire his own coach who in turn hired his staff.

What the hell is woody supposed to do? What else do you want from him?

No draft list ALOL.

We hear this crap every year. Fact is draft picks go to the teams that draft them. They don't have a choice.

I am going to play the other angle:  how may NFL teams in recent times put out in the field a QB as inept as Zach Wilson?  The Raiders and Russell?  Their numbers are similar, as is the organizational quality and decision making.

The organization never should have picked a rich Mormon kid from BYU who needed development and put him on the field in day 1 with this fan base.  Jordan Love has barely seen the field.  This was just an organizational failure from top to bottom.  I do think Woody had something to do with it.  The better answer was to keep Darnold for a year and then move to Wilson.

Jets devoted a high draft pick on pennington and he was very good. Does woody get credit for that? Or were the injuries woody’s fault?

Woody Johnson attained ownership of the Jets only a few months before Pennington was drafted.

That decision was made by Bill Parcells who was running the show for an incapacitated Leon Hess.

Leon Hess was no prize package himself either.
