Mogglez
It’s going to depend on a lot. I don’t truly think he will be traded, but there is a good chance if they are able to get a good offer and pick up an established, veteran, QB1 that they decide to cut bait. If they had had another top 5 pick, ala 2020, Wilson would be a goner.
Popular Post Adoni Beast
No reason to trade him unless he becomes a distraction and/or stops working hard. Let him put in the work through his rookie contract and see if he can realize his potential. In the interim….aggressively look to upgrade the position without Zack Wilson’s feelings or expectancy thy]at he will figure it out. 6

BP
All of this speculation will be over after free agency and the draft. If the Jets draft or sign a qb then we know the answer.
Popular Post hawk
Not for nothing, but if Rapoport is getting this info, it is intentional. From all accounts, JD keeps his thoughts pretty close to the vest. 5

Popular Post Augustiniak
The quote was ‘we don’t plan to trade’. He can say that, but if an offer comes up, well, he can scrap the plan. He didn’t say ‘we won’t trade him’, the language is subtly hedged. Like with Jamal, he said something like ‘we want Jamal to be a jet for life’. No guarantees. Persuasive writing.

Barry McCockinner
I'm surprised Douglas told the media he doesn't plan on trading a guy no one is going to want to trade for.

If they truly believe he has the goods to be an elite QB, this will not be a tough decision.

Don't forget to ask Denzel Mims and Elijah Moore. I don't think it means anything really. JD seems like an excellent negotiator. He's not going to start from a position of weakness. This is his default answer for any player. I have a hard time imagining anyone offering anything of value for Wilson.

Rangers9
I think it would be a smart move to keep him esp if true that he’s handled his demotion well and a good teammate. He’s not really due that much money for a Qb over the next two years other teams might be willing to trade for him. But this all could be spin to boost his value. playtowinthegame
I imagine Joe Douglas just trying to protect Wilson's value by saying he doesn't intend to "shop" Zach Wilson, to try and drum up a better offer from another team this off-season. Even if for some reason Joe Douglas was being insanely stubborn and decided to keep Zach Wilson, does anyone think Zach Wilson (and his family) want to stay here? No way. 1
JonMcgraw38
He’s not getting traded until post June 1st so the Jets are going to have to execute their off-season plan & draft with him in the fold. This does seem like an indictment on Saleh and his merry crew.

Green Ghost
Things an NFL GM always says… “Yeah, the team doesn’t like him, the HC keeps benching him, and he sucks. I need to get this POS outta here pronto!”
slats
As soon as a player is actively being shopped, their value starts to decline. He’s not going to put himself in that position. Any uncertainty benefits the Jets. Let teams make the call to him and make an offer. That’s a much stronger negotiating stance.
