If they’re going to trade him, I’d expect it to happen before that comes due. They can manipulate the cap in ways other than the June 1 designation if the hit is too big. Talk is cheap. Actions, especially when it comes to writing checks in the amount of $2.9 million, are what really matters. And as with Darnold and Adams, no point in giving up the negotiating ghost until you have to do so. Rappaport gets an easy article, but it's meaningless on Janaury 1st.

Of course JD doesn't "plan" to trade Zach, but if he is given a reasonable trade offer, his plans will change in a hurry. The question we should be asking is: "What is considered reasonable?" I think JD would want something similar to what he got for Sam, but I don't think anyone will offer him that. Perhaps a 4th round pick and a 6th round pick, with the Jets giving up a 5th round pick in return along with Zach.
Integrity28
There’s only 1 way to answer this question at this point if a season. Come on, this isn’t news.

Only possible if you don’t (try to) sandbag the whole QB room to prevent anyone from keeping your new crush off the field. If JD had gotten Minshew, he could’ve let the younger sit and learn. JD I hope has learned from that mistake, which is his greatest as a GM to date. Drafting a bust, it happens, believing with blind faith — inexcusable. But JD has lovingly rebuilt a heap in his garage into a purring muscle car. No way he throws the keys back to Twerp in 2023.
rangerous
this doesn't seem surprising. douglas is going to lookout for the best interests of the team and there's no sense talking about zwilson and trading him until the season s over. we've also heard douglas say he'll answer the phone if someone calls so maybe zwilson isn't quite so indispensible as he might have been sealier in the season. the other part is what about mfw? if mfw closes out the season in a big way then he almost has to make every effort to sign him. if mfw chooses to go elsewhere then zwilson is there. it might be difficult to name wilson next years starter but without a viable option there isn't much of a choice. Zachtomims47
See. Sam Darnold is ballin. Just needs time. Slow and steady.

varjet
The Jets need to invest in much more coaching if they want to keep and salvage Wilson. The Jets are not signing White and another veteran. There is not money for that. If White plays well he will play a Fitz like role where is competing to start at around $10mm/year or more (maybe a lot more). If the Jets end up with an expensive veteran the jets will do everything they can to trade Wilson and save some money.
