Is JD in deep doo doo?

Mac screwed up trading up to take Darnold. Disaster. Ultimately got him fired. JD essentially makes a similar blunder, if not worse, by taking Wilson, when Fields was sitting there. Somehow, somewhere, sometime, JD will have to answer for this colossal mistake.  Sooner rather than later?  JD has added some nice talent to this team but his FA's have been less than stellar.  Still, the team has made significant progress so I'm sure he is safe as is Saleh. But someone has got to take a fall here for this terrible meltdown.  JD jas his work cut out for him and is going to have to pull a rabbit out his hat and find this team  a QB and an OL.  It's been a constant problem.  How much more time does Woody give JD. He fired Rex wo he loved like a son.  But there's only so much anyone can take.  Should be an interesting off season and expectations next year have risen. No more excuses. Playoffs or you're all FIRED.

Justin Fields is not good either.  His release is too slow.

He threw for more that 200 yards two times.  Less than 150, six times…

A quarterback has to be able to throw the ball.  Running for a 1000 yards is a cool story, but it is not a key to long-term success.  Especially, when the team has to play from behind.

Yet i can’t help think that if darnold and geno can look better elsewhere, maybe the jets drafting isn’t as bad as the coaching.

JD totally sh*t the bed on the QB position.
How do you get a pass for that?

By drafting the Offensive Rookie of the Year and a Defensive Rookie of the Year runner up.

And while this roster has some clear needs, the overall team talent level is miles better than the pathetic Gase Era.

QB, Coaching, and keeping our players healthy are the three primary problems.

Yes, JD needs to answer for his failure at QB.  He'll get another shot.  We'll see what he does.

I wanted Fields, to be clear (or Mac Jones).  And I think Fields might have a bright future still.

But Fields is hurt, sitting at home, and his his team is a non-playoff, non-competitive mess.

JD is under pressure because of the QB position, no doubt, but not because of Fields.  Not at this point.

Fields is not the answer either.  Watching geno play at an all star level must resonate with woody somehow, that maybe the coaching is worse than the drafting.

Because he’s done a great job in other areas. JD isn’t the problem, 2022 could be the best draft in the history of the Jets. Coaching on the other hand, especially on the offensive side , could need some changes.

It's my opinion that Brock Purdy is without question the NFL offensive rookie of the year and it shouldn't be close.

The real reason JD should be under pressure is because of this inept coaching staff he hired. This coaching staff is in way over their heads, and as everyone who knows what they are looking at should have seen yesterday, this goes way beyond the QB position. No attainable QB is going to make this a good offense, better, sure, but not good. The coaching staff is really bad

Fields is gonna set the NFL record for QB rushing yards. He has an elite skill. That alone makes him good. And he’ll be a better passer as he continues to develop. Fields will be better than Lamar when it’s all said and done.

He beat NE, and if Fields was our pick we would be in the playoffs because running effectively opens up the pass.

I'm not just talking about Zach. Why did Flacco remain on the roster during the losing streak/meltdown when there was clearly no intention of playing him??? The Titans picked a guy off another teams practice squad and he's starting next week, in a game that will decide the division title.

Thanks for the breakdown. Some BRUTAL signings. I still remember saying the Perriman signing was bad on here and getting killed for it. That JD was smart and getting a "discount robby anderson"

JD's following is cult like and i don't understand it.

At least you can say Joe Douglas has gotten better, but what's to say he won't revert and go back to getting off-season F's again. Can you imagine how far the Jets will be set back if Joe Douglas has another off-season similar to 2020 and 2021. That's the argument for ripping the band-aid off and firing everyone, but I don't think the Jets owners will do it. They want to look "stable".

Fields had a really good stretch in middle of season.  Nothing Wilson has been able to come close to achieve. And the Bears are a mess. Their roster stinks and they had an overhaul in their coaching staff.  The smarter move would have been to take Fields. He was way more game ready and the better athlete.  He has played against better competition in college and played in bigger games. Ask the Bears GM if he would trade Fields for Wilson. Go ahead. Ask.

You don't know that and none of us ever will. Point is Fields would have been a smarter, safer pick.  Think about what Fields was able to do this year with that mess of a Bears team. Did you watch how he crunched Belicheat and the Pats? Wilson was so bad Saleh had to deactivate him twice not only for his poor play but also since since he's divorced from reality.  JD was enamored with Wilson's arm strength. Woop de do.  I have tried as many here, to cheer and support the pick. But its clear it was a move that has set the organization back. Fields is 3 times the athlete Wilson is.  Its not even close.

When you have no one to throw the ball to you run. And his OL is a freaking joke. And the coaching staff he was first under practically got him disabled. Nothing is black and white. See Darnold - weapons.  Give a QB weapons and an OL and most QB's are going to play decently and great ones will be great.

I don't feel any need to defend a pick (Wilson) I was vehemently against, and was 100% correct about, lol.

Instant gratification? Is that a serious comment? What is Instant about having waited now 12 years for a decent season? And why do we have to always be waiting for the coach to learn on the job, if ever? Sean Payton won't need to learn on the job.

Uhhh JD has been on the job 4 years and we all know the first year doesn't even count.  This has been gone over countless times. Read the cliff notes.  It's a huge work in progress.  Slow and steady.  The Wilson pick has rally hurt but hopefully JD figures that out next season and I'm sure they will do something to address the QB position next year besides Wilson or White. And you can forget about Sean Payton.  Why in the world would he come to a team Woody runs who have had no stability for eons.  Woody would have to give Payton a stake in the organization like Parcells asked for. And we all know that any owner will not be doing that.

In my opinion, the roster is better than it has been in a LONG time, and significantly younger.

This is really damning with faint praise. Being better than Maccagnan, Idzik, and late-stage Tannenbaum is good, I guess, but the team just lost its fifth straight.
