The Yankees will win the title this year...

Recommended Posts

...the title of "Biggest Chokejob/Waste of Money in the History of Baseball"

They'll hit a ton, they wont pitch very well. They'll try to make a mid-season blockbuster only to fall short...and they'll quietly peter off sometime in October long before the World Series is over.

Pathetic.

But, it has been the case for the past 5 years and counting...let the trend be your friend 'til the end!

Playa please. I've been right for the past 5 seasons...see my 2005 preseason forecast

The one where you picked the sox to win the Al East?

Watching Pathetic Redsox fans try to take their pain away by bashing the Yankees is about as comical as it gets.

This would be like a homeless guy finding a $100 bill on the street and running up to Donald Trump's limo and saying " hahaha look what I got!!! "

Pathetic.

That title belongs forever to the 1978 Boston Red Sox.

Maybe, but only until 2004. That was a choke for the ages.

Three-game lead vs. 14-game lead. No contest.

The Yanks' 2004 choke was epic, though, no doubt. Just less so. Much less.

No...the 2004 collapse was cataclysmic. Epic doesnt do it justice.

How can 2 teams vying for a playoff spot be compared to 2 teams vying for the World Series?

Furthermore, how can the ONLY time EVER in all of sports can a team with a 3-0 lead in a 7 game series that LOSES the series in the POST-SEASON be compared with anything that happens in a regular season????????

I await an answer from anyone, not just Mr. Porn Stache!!!

Dude, the Red Sox invented the choke ... they hold the patent ... their list of chokes spans generations ... if I were to actually list them all, or even attempt it, I would literally type my fingers to the bone

hopefully this will be the year Mariano Rivera wins a Cy Young, he'll get plenty of save opportunities

Forget it ... the Anti-Yankee bias will never allow it

Super Mario should have been a shoe-in last year ... had his best year ever, and we're talkin about a first ballot hall of famer who's had nothing but Great seasons, yet last year was his all-time best and there was no truly dominant starting pitcher last year as well ... so that tells me Mariano would have to save a HUNDRED GAMES for the Yankee haters to even consider him for the CY

but A-rod won MVP last year and he was a Yankee too

Shame

The voters had to save face after flatout robbing Mariano, so they gave Arod the MVP out of shame ... almost like a MAKEUP CALL by the officials when they know they have been bleeping the other team all nite

I wish they would have made Rivera the Cy Young so that Ortiz would have gotten his rightfully deserved MVP.

I would have made that trade, Carl

As a Yankee fan, I would have conceded the MVP to Ortiz for Mariano to win the CY

Ham ,seriously do you believe half the Yankee nonsense you write?

I am with you in that Mo had a great year but to say the voting was anti Yankee is crazy.

Sometimes I Just say things to get a rise out of folks, but you can usually tell when I'm being an irk

NOT HERE ... NOT NOW ... I am DEAD SERIOUS ... IMO Mariano Got robbed without a Gun

When a first ballot hall of fame lock has his best season ever, with no dominant SP in his league that year, he should have been a slam-dunk for the CY YOUNG

If Mariano played for any other team the voters would have been tripping over themselves to vote for him

What is the anti Yank voting theory based on?

Relief pitchers have their own award and that's just the way some writers see things. It has nada to do if the reliever is a Yankee or not.

Same reason Roger Clemens won the MVP in the mid 80's when Don Mattingly had an awesome season ... the type of season that never should have opened the door for an SP to win the MVP {like you said, they have their award} ... but Clemens won it anyway, MVP and CY, rather than give it to a hated Yankee

I don't believe an SP has ever won the MVP in a season where an everyday player tore it up like Mattingly did that year ... EVER ... except that one time

Gee, I wonder why?

BTW, You are a perfect example ... look no further than yourself ... I'm sure you will proceed to rationalize Clemens winning the MVP that year, after Just preaching about pitchers having their own awards

Not to mention that Jim Rice should have finished ahead of Rocket that year for MVP. The hatred for NY and hatred for Jim Rice did both Mattingly and Rice out of it. It is a shame though, since Rice should be in the hall but because of his attitude with the press he isn't, and a 2nd MVP could have put Donnie Baseball closer to it.

Media... vote with your fricken heads, not because you don't like a team or a player personally.

Yanks have had 20 MVP's since 1931 Ham.....sure sounds like anti Yankee voting.....end of discussion.

What makes it worse is Mattingly and Mariano are both first class individuals as well, and both treat the media with the upmost respect ... and still these scumbags couldn't bring themsleves to vote fairly if it meant voting for a Yankee

IMO it's a miracle Arod won the MVP ... I truly believe that was pure shame ... even the hatingest of haters could not shun both last year, Mairano and Arod, and try to sell himself as a neutral observer and a fair guy

So it was one or the other, Mariano or Arod, but NO WAY were they voting for two Yankees ... hell would freeze over first ... so most of the voters held their noses and voted for Arod, then had a stiff drink to wash away the pain

I didn't say anything about the old days .. cats like Jimmy Cannon, Red Smith, Grantland Rice, those cats were true professionals .. you could trust them to vote with their heads and not with their hearts ... not like the hacks that pass for writers nowadays

most modern day voters werent even alive when guys like Mantle (3 times), Dimaggio (3 times), Berra (3 times), Maris (2 times) etc. were voted MVP

same goes for Gehrig, Gordon, Rizzuto etc.

Don Mattingly in 86

BA - .352

Hits - 238

HR - 31 {PRE ROIDS ERA WHEN 31 WAS A PRETTY BIG NUMBER, especially on top of .352/238}

RBI - 113

2B - 53

OBP - .394

SLG - .573

BB - 53

SO - 35

AND HE WAS A GOLD GLOVE FIELDER!!

====

So please tell me how an SP wins the CY YOUNG that year?

Afterall, SP's have their own award, right?

So tell me then what was the last season a Yankee deserved the MVP and didn't win?

I Just posted Mattingly's numbers in 86 ... see above

Are you telling me he didn't get robbed?

It wouldn't have been enough to give Clemens the CY and Donnie the MVP?

Was that not the right way to go?

So 20 years ago is your best argument?

Also, at least 7 players hit 31 HR's in the AL that year.

Donnie's season was great but so was Clemens. Clemens also took his team to the WS something Mattingly never could seem to muster.

My vote would have went to Mattingly but one alleged anti vote in 20 years is hardly a conspiracy.

See what I mean, you're a BS artist ... it has nothing to do with separate awards, cause you abandoned that argument in a heartbeat to defend f**kin a Yankee ... YOUR MENTALITY is the REAL REASON Mariano Got Jobbed

Like I said, no better example than yourself GS ... With all due respect

I rest my case ... and thank you for making my case

Rubbish Ham.

Your main point is voters look to vote against the Yankees yet you have to go back 20 years to find a MVP award that was debatable in its result.

With all due respect, you are a homer bar none.
