Confidence

Recommended Posts

If anyone has ever played sports at even a remotely high level, you will understand the importance of confidence as an athlete. For a baseball batter, when things are going well, they go up to bat with confidence, they see the ball well, they lay off bad pitches, hit the good ones hard, and the exact opposite is true when things start going bad. For a basketball player shots go in, or don't with no confidence.

For a QB, confidence is even more important than any other sport.

Yesterday, White had no confidence, yet vs. the Bears, he was highly confident.

This offense makes it very, very hard for a QB to gain any confidence. The line allows way too many free rushers/blitzers, there are very few schemed wide open receivers at the right time, the running game is inconsistent, and the play-calling has zero rhythm to it whatsoever.

White is a competent QB. I don't think he is capable of being a high end starter, but he can be a competent QB in this league. Yesterday, this offense stripped him completely of his confidence.

This was against a really bad football defense.

I don't want to make this about ZW, because he should be done here, but my biggest problem with this offense was it was never going to allow a young QB to develop any confidence.

Bringing in a Carr, Garrapolo, Minshew may slightly mask this, but it doesn't really solve the problem that this offense is really sh*tty.

This org needs to do some real soul searching to figure out quickly if MLF can learn from this and get better at his job, or we will continue to waste years of football. We need an offense that can allow a QB to develop some confidence.

I doubt it. Sometimes this organization seems like a frat house more than a business model. JD hired Saleh without ever working with him before because “of the feel” aka he works out and is a man blah blah. Saleh turns around and hires his best friends brother. I mean this whole design had the making of a disaster and when I called it out got killed for it….

Well here we are

completely agree, which was why, as bad as ZW was, I did not think he deserved the sole blame for this disaster. If you really saw what was going on, it was and is way deeper than any one player, as bad as that player played.
