More Cowbell
So I'm watching the morning news and they said the NFL is considering not playing this game. Are they kidding? Wouldn't this throw the playoff seeding into chaos with the Bills not playing 2 games?
Popular Post KevinSwayne82
Easy solution. Add an 8th playoff team. Pats clinch and neither Buffalo or KC get a home field advantage. Jets win on Sunday with a Steelers loss and they head to KC next week. 1 1 4 1

PFSIKH
You could have probably absorbed the Superbowl bye and come up with some sort of schedukle if this happened sooner. Play this week out and see where the chips fall. While the odds are unlikely (Patriots, Raiders and Ravens all win), let Buffalo decide what they want to do after this week's games. 1

Players have been speaking out publicly about playing next week. That people are more important than the game. I have had relatives die in my family and never took off more than a day or 2 from work. These players have an entire week to deal with this. If a particular player doesn't want to play, excuse them and have someone take their spot. 7

Baseball teams play impromptu double headers, why can't the Bills and Bengals field a team of back ups and just finish the game somewhere? Just make it official and be done with it. Drive on.

And if that were true, then the players wouldn't object to the final score being the score at the time the game was suspended. i.e. Bengals win 7-3. After all, it's not the game, the score or the playoffs that matters, it's people. Then we play week 18, and we're all good. 20 minutes ago, More Cowbell said: I have had relatives die in my family and never took off more than a day or 2 from work. And most people get little time off even if direct family suffer something horrible, much less when a co-worker or friend does. I hate to be harsh, but I agree 100% with the "week 18 games must be played, if you can't, then it's a forefeit" mindset. 2

Wit
People need to remember that this kid almost died on the field playing the same game they are currently going to play. Its not like a relative dying. I will say that after Munson tragically died the Yankees played a four game set right after it happened. That being said, he didn't die playing baseball. This isn't just about feelings, its legit PTSD and needs to be taken seriously. 2 1

Ron Rico
Because two days after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field of an NFL game, the Cowboys’ team chaplain implored players: Tell your loved ones you love them. Don’t wait until tomorrow. You may not have that long. “Mom, dad, call them and let them know you love them,” Pro Bowl defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence said. “Sister, brother, kids — everybody in your circle. Just make sure they feel loved. Y’all make sure y’all gather around and touch each other.” The Cowboys returned to work Wednesday after a regularly scheduled players day off Tuesday. They would practice, meet with position groups and prepare for their regular-season finale against the Washington Commanders. But before professional development continued, head coach Mike McCarthy wanted to ensure the organization supported players more holistically. He created a dialogue in their teamwide meeting for players to confront rather than just compartmentalize the raw emotions of an NFL tragedy. Pastor Jonathan Evans addressed the group. “It’s definitely a heavy, sensitive day here,” McCarthy said. “I thought his spiritual guidance was what we needed to hear. When you get in tough times, you just have to make sure you’ve got your resources lined up and that everybody is keeping an eye on one another because let’s be honest: Nobody’s fine. “We obviously know what’s in front of us professionally. Our spirituality playbook was open today, and we’re working through it.”

You can pray for Hamlin and feel absolutely terrible for his family, and you can also want the NFL to get back to business after the postponement of the Bills/Bengals game. But I got to keep hearing it's just a game. To cancel these games is making Damar Hamlin's cardiac arrest bigger than 9/11. All those people died that day, and the NFL didn't miss one game...just moved the season out one week. I feel terrible for Damar Hamlin, but the NFL has screwed this up royally. You may as well put an asterisk next to whoever wins the AFC this year. 5
