Flip Gase and Saleh and that’s my list.

Not a Saleh fan, but the fact that Gase was even hired is a disgrace.

Yeah Gase was a turd. It was the moment that actually led me to start reading this forum actually. I think I joined soon after.

Gase was ******* terrible, BUT he had at least a minimal excuse, his roster was absolute trash. He still managed to win 9 games his first two years.

Saleh only won 11 games with a roster 20x better than Gase had.

That's quite something.

I agree with your list but Gase was ******* legit nutts

It’s fcking sad that the HC have been so damn bad Rex is at the top of the list.

Rex was a fantastic coach in every respect but one.   His early success compelled Woody to allow Rex to take a leading role in the roster.  Both FA and the draft.  And, Tanny was a pushover.

Rex was victimized by his own failure as de facto director of player personnel

Rex was a great motivator and communicator with the players

Rex was a fantastic X's and O's coach that could adjust from play to play.  You didnt have to wait and hope at half time for adjustments.  He was the only coach that could beat BB at Chess.

Rex was fun as hell.  NFL football is an entertainment product.  Rex was a 24-7 party.  It was always wild and fun when Rex was the coach.

If Rex is made HC behind a strong GM that understands Rex, he would be the best HC in the league and he most fun for the players and fans ALL THE TIME.

Gase and Mangini were the only two who tried to fundamentally repair this godforsaken franchise and it destroyed them. Herm and Rex were personality cults whose acts ran out of steam, similar to what we’re seeing with Saleh, but Saleh was starting from zero whereas Herm and Rex inherited solid rosters. Bowles was, and is, just an overhired coordinator who got jobbed by working with Maccagnan.

Interesting that you have Mangini at the top.  Given more time, he may very well have had sustained success.  He was fired too soon.  And, he was by far the best HC in on draft day.  Him and Tanny had one grand slam after another in the draft.  Mangini was learning the game on the fly, by the key word is learning.  He would have gotten better with in-game performance had he been retained.

Mangini and Rex were two HC's with totally opposite strengths.

I'd LOVE to have Rex as HC, and Mangini as director of player personnel backed up by Tanny as the cap and contract man. SUPERBOWL in one season

Mangini might have actually been the best no way he should have been turfed after two years.

Mangini and Idzik.......the forgotten martyrs

Mangini yes.  Idzik. No way.  He could not get out of his own way.  Way out of his depth as a GM.

It’s pathetic. Look at Detroit lol they interviewed bobby salad and said thanks, no thanks. He was out coached in the lions game. Makes you wonder what questions the Jets ask during the interview process. I mean they whiff all the time.

Mangini was great with roster building but sucked as a coach and thought he was Belichick. The Mangenius stuff was nauseating. If we could have taken Mangini's roster building and Rex's coaching and built a coach ...

But without him axed when he was we never get Rex. Idzik was a joke.  The Idzik 12 comes to mind.

Anyone who doesn’t have Rex at the top is wild. Dude went to back to back title games and was the coach of the best time contemporary jets fans have seen.

And some of the best Jets quotes of all time

"Let's go get a goddam snack"

"Three home teams advance, and the fk'n Jets"

"If you take a swipe at one of ours, we'll take a swipe at two of yours"

"I didn't come here to kiss Bill Belichick's rings"

"I don't know how we'll win, but we will"

Yes, I agree, Mangini was very good at player evaluation. I did not like Rex. Ozzie, Lewis and Nolan built that D. Rex had nothing to do with it IMO.

Idzik was a much better gm than mccagnan.  Vastly better.  And if we want to use a gms 1st draft to dump him Douglas better look over his shoulder.
