Robert "Kojak" Salads debunks Lafleur's comments

Douglas construction of the roster ensured Wilson would start. Was convinced he look like the GM savior booting Sam and bringing in someone who he thought be better on a rookie deal starting at year 1…..

WHOOPS

Plenty of blame to go around here. The circling firing squad has begun

Saleh isn’t debunking anything!

A young QB in Zach Wilson preformed extremely well in the preseason and some out here were losing their minds saying he was the next Dan Marino! Yes he was performing well.

But the sane amongst us said no he was not Marino or Montana because of the PRESEASON yet and that Wilson should sit and learn because he was going to have problems in the transition to real NFL play and we had heard this nonsense before with the Jets (see, Sanchez and Darnold)

Unfortunately, for him Saleh’s statement just reveals ignorance and an inability to properly assess the QB position by a defensively minded coach.

Indeed, the fact that Zach Wilson has regressed under Jets so called inexperienced coaching is yet another indictment of the staff.

Please, please, please…….Jets get someone in here who can teach and coach the QB position and not just admit by their statements that they don’t know what they are doing.

some good points.  if a student isn't learning is it the fault of the student or the teacher?  i know in my experience i needed a physical teacher presence to learn.  i struggle with on line learning.  so, in my opinion, and based on good players being put into dog houses, i can't see how milf needs to take quite a bit of blame for zwilson's regression.  obviously this team was hurt by the revolving door on the oline and the lack of a run game.  that's plenty obvious.  the surest way to have a young qb succeed is to run the ball.  and zwilson, for whatever reason, didn't seem to have much in sync with the receivers other than gwilson, davis, conklin, and berrios.  moore wasn't being thrown too and neither was mims or smith.  if zwilson doesn't have confidence in the team around him then it will affect his play.

the bottom line is the jets would be right to keep zwilson.  if sitting next season is the right thing for the team's succeed then so be it.  likewise, zwilson could very well be deemed good enough to start.  things can change pretty darn fast.  the downside is, at this point, i don't think the jets know if they need to be looking for a 2-3 season starter or a one year.

+1 They stacked the deck for Wilson to have the job. Traded Sam right after the Pro Day and went into camp with Mike White and James Morgan. They went sink or swim with Zach and this is what sinking looks like.

And ultimately I don’t know how much input the coaching staff had there, but roster stuff falls on Douglas first.

the lack of Jet Wear on MLF would appear telling.   I think he does have a brilliant football mind and he will be successful somewhere.  He just did not set up, or was not allowed to set up, a deep and broad offensive staff that could teach and implement his vision.  He also appeared to show the inability to work with the next generation of spoiled, coddled difficult players that unfortunately most teams half to know how to deal with.

Best answer for MLF is to move on and find something else, but I am not certain if the Jets at this point can replace him with someone better.  Reich with a full staff would be someone better.

It’s hard to believe any coaching staff would want to go into a season without a veteran backup, and it’s even harder to believe any GM would let a rookie coach dictate that sort of thing anyway. This had to be Douglas all the way, and intentionally.

I think this points to a possibility of a change this offseason. LaFleur clearly trying to save his job and Saleh saying that he isn't going to agree on LaFleur's assessment and by contradicting him, points out that they are not on the same page and he is positioning him to be thrown under the bus.
