Hamlin, Now A 16 Year Old ...

KRL

Recommended Posts

I think I've heard of this type of injury years ago on the news in NY.  It was a youth lacrosse or hockey game where a puck (or lacrosse ball) hit the player at the exact wrong time and it led to cardiac arrest.

Edit;  Pretty sure it was this one:

The issue is getting a lot of attention now, but it's quite scary to think about.

Lol I was just talking to a friend of mine about how we used to have a school street hockey league at night back in the 70’s and used to slam each other into the bleachers and come home sometimes a little bloody. There’s no way any school will let you do stuff like that nowadays. It was junior high school ages 12-14.

I don’t even see kids play in the snow anymore. But I think that has to do with the advancement of the internet and cable tv. Stuff us old goats didn’t have growing up. I’d jerk off to the bras sections of the sears catalog when I was a little kid lol and now these kids get free unlimited porno that causes premature ED. Glad I grew up when I did and glad I’ll be dead when the looney tunes be running the country

We had a league like that in high school and I checked a kid into one of the doors to the gym ( my bad, checking wasn’t allowed ?‍♂️). He hit that metal bar you pushed in to open it with his body, and went flying into the hall.

Next thing I know 2 or 3 of his teammates jumped me, my team joins in, along with the rest of theirs.

We acted like we were the Dave Schultz and the Broad St bullies against Terry O’Reilly and the big bad Bruins for a few minutes, then the coaches and ref got things settled down, and we finished the game like it never happened.

I think the key to the way we grew up and now, is there were no parents there. It was just young guys playing a game and blowing off steam when things got heated. No grudges, no crying, just boys being boys.

Back in my day, we had no TV and pet dinosaurs. All kidding aside, everything is worse now besides technology but mostly BECAUSE of technology. With easy access to everything, there’s no excitement anymore or effort to do things.

i was born in 84 and had a great childhood. I would think being born in 1970 would have been perfect though to enjoy the 80s properly. Oh well, back to sh*tty Jets football, endless porn and shouting obscenities at Alexa.

I was born in 1971.  Tackle football on the playground without pads was awesome.  Never had AC until I was an adult.  However, American XXXtasy on the satellite dish was amazing!!!!

I went to Brentwood High School in the 70's.  Getting through the day was blood sport.  I know exactly what you're talking about.

Here's the issue with all of these sudden deaths in young people due to cardiac events.   It has been going on unnoticed for many years.  Now that there's a certain cause that it can be linked to for political purposes, some people are suddenly paying attention and pretending it's new.

I was a kid and got to experience cable tv with the box attached to a cord - we had cinemax lol. I had a Schwinn Predator BMX and crashed that thing so bad one time I bent the forks in half. The guys at the bike shop couldn't believe I didn't break any bones. The hill I used to sled on you can't even sled on anymore.  I used to ride my bike to a park in the summertime with my friends to swim and play hoops. I can still remember planning on watching a TV show when it came on, because if you missed it you missed it. The younger generation has got it way better today technology wise, but I'm glad I grew up when I did too.

Haha, nice.

We used to go to the biggest, steepest hill in town then rude down it…. On our skateboards, laying in our stomached, face first…. Into an intersection.

Admittedly, I only did it once. My father was captain of the rescue squad… I had too much safety sense for that sh*t. My buddies did it like wild dogs. Still cannot believe nobody lost their entire face to the pavement.

When we did hockey in gym… not even a league… My cousin and I acted like we were the Handsom bros. All we did was spear other kids and fight. Got thrown out every day.

Damn. So sad. How long before a parent gets charged with child endangerment for letting their kid play pee-wee football. Or a state like CA bans youth football all together. You KNOW it's coming.

It's not coming.

Of course they've got their head in the sand.   There was no reason to pay attention when it was happening before.  Now it fits a narrative so they're very anxious to discuss what's "all of a sudden happening out of nowhere".
