Where should the Jets invest this offseason to end this playoff drought? QB or Oline?

Obviously we're all super focused on the qb position, and rightfully so.

But assuming we can only use our assets (1st rd pick, cap space) to significantly improve either the QB position or Oline, which do you believe would get us in the playoffs next season?

This isn't a poll about which is more important for sustainable future success, I'm just focused on next year here.

Jets need more than just a decent QB and an Offensive lineman.

That would be a good thread after the last game.

what do you rate each position at going into the off-season

++ (star)

+(strength)

=(average)

- (weakness - poor starter level)

- - (glaring weakness - below NFL starter talent)

and then just a general depth question for each position.

If you don't have a top QB, you need to have a top O-Line.

Jets need to sign a veteran QB and then invest heavy in the O-Line.

It all depends on how serious JD and Saleh are on giving Mike White the starting job.  They are not going after an Aaron Rodgers or similar. Its to costly and would make JD look like a dummy.  Zach is STILL here so 'hopes' are still blowin in the wind he turns it around down the road.  Signing Mike White serves 4 purposes.  1- It gives JD the chance to see if he can actually be the starter and move forward from there. 2 - Or it gives Zach more time to develop.  3 - Or if either fail to transpire, it gives JD a definitive answer to find another QB through the draft or FA.  For now, sign Mike White, sit Zach for the year, and get a reliable vet like Andy Dalton to be the backup.  4 - This allows JD to FOCUS on the OL and get it straightened out once and for all.  The OL is an abomination. Hopefully next year Becton and AVT return,. The whole OL as it is now, are backups so we should have good depth.  JD has to make some radical moves in the draft and FA yet again with the OL.  The OL at this time with this team is more important.  You roll the dice with Mike White and FIX the OL.

I think the Jets should find a boring, average quarterback who can play football at an average NFL level without turning the ball over a ton, build an offense (including the line, but they still need playmakers) around him, and keep an eye for a developmental guy once the rest of the offense is in place and the average quarterback limits them. Kind of like the KC approach or what SF did with Lance. Multi year bridge and then try to swing for the fences once you realize you’re limited by the non elite quarterback.

I also don’t hate the idea of figuring out which of the Packers’ QB’s might shake loose and consider taking a shot there - both highly risky but I think with those risks might come semi reasonable prices and I think there’s a logic to going after either of those guys. Don’t love giving up draft capital but that’s probably the nicest combination of comfort and upside.
