So in hindsight, where did this go downhill?

Recommended Posts

When Wesley Walker made me a jets fan in 1982

when Maccagnan fell in love with Sam after scouting him in person 3 times and noticed how his teammates were drawn to him and even though he liked Watson and Mahomes as QBs, decided that Sam had the alpha male magic and that he didn’t need a QB that year.

When AVT and hall got injured.

side note Saleh has no idea how to run a bye week and that has to change

Several things.

Bad decision to go with Flacco in the first place.

The injury to hall and avt killed the team, because they were totally reliant on big play runs.

Then as often happens a Dcentric head coach decided all wins were due to his defense and all loses we due to the offense so the offense throttle  back more and more each game.

Agree.

I can’t prove this but I believe the team would have had 10 wins with Hall and AVT and probably wouldn’t had gone through the QB turmoil. The coaching decisions of the last third of season were flawed.

I believe everything fell apart in the second game against the New England Patriots game!!! The team couldn't move the ball offensively and Zach Wilson got exposed again by Belicheck of his ineptitude to lead the offense. Besides Wilson the oline was exposed as the weak link and that they did not have a running game to compliment the passing.

After that game every team was stacking the line and made the Jets beat teams with their passing game because they had no oline or running game. Besides Garrett Wilson, the other WRs never stepped up like they were supposed to and why the offense faltered during the year.

As soon as the flag hit the ground on the roughing penalty on mac Jones… not because it was late, because it was “too hard.”  That was a huge swing. We win that game, then who knows.

but that penalty call that took away a defensive touchdown was the tangible moment for me.

I'm with the season essentially ended when Hall and AVT went down crowd. Having Hall and AVT allowed this team to win games without putting the focus on the QB to win games which we know he was incapable of doing. We didn't have the QB, depth, or coaching to overcome losing 2 of the top 3 players on offense in 1 game.

Did saleh make the wrong move going to Mike white?  Was it a point of no return?  Was it when white  got Injured?  Was it the Detroit 4th down?  The jax fiasco?

part of me thinks all realistic hopes for this team ended in Denver; we just didn’t know it.  Hard to lose our two best offensive players. That really was devastating

Hall and AVT going down for the season.

Heard on the postgame that Hall ended up being the leading rusher for the season. That there tells me all I need to know about the OL and the QB play.

The team was always bad and Zach Wilson was never going to be good. You want to know the first tangible sign this season was doomed? When Saleh was begging Becton to come to camp. The head coach publicly sucking off a fat malcontent was the surest sign the team, and the coach, lacked the grit to compete.

There’s nothing wrong with sucking off a fat malcontent. Just ask my wife.
