I'm still very high on Douglas and Saleh . We have to stay the course. IMHO we're on the right track. We CAN'T keep changing coaches and GM's every other year. We need stability. No coach is want to come here knowing ithat he only has a year or 2 to produce.  Again, IMO were an average QB away from the playoffs this year.

JD started off awfully and has flipped the script. For now that evens out to average. The roster is good, but still has quite a few holes.

Saleh still needs to improve but his culture flip was impressive. Collapse he said and did everything wrong

It seems most of us are in agreement.

I would like to expand on the "average" grade I gave Saleh. While I think he has done a decent job with the hand he was dealt, I believe he will ultimately become a an above average coach. But I could not vote for above average at this time based on his performance.

Both of them spit the bit repeatedly throughout the season every single time there was adversity. The QB shuffling was incoherent at best, and absurd at it's worst. Making Zach run out on the field to start the second half against the Jags. Arbitrarily starting QB's regardless of status on the depth chart.

I like them both and I would keep them both.  Plenty of criticism to go around, but I still feel like we are headed the right way.  Losing week 18 the way they did was about perfect, though it does not appear to have helped draft position much.  I feel like Douglas has done a pretty fair job of getting bodies that can do the work and that he will get more.  The withstood a pretty fair amount of injuries on the Oline before they cracked.  Everybody cried about cutting Pinnock, but I think Adams looked pretty good.  I am a bit more worried about the huge whiffs on Zach Wilson, Becton and Tomlinson.  They will need to have more hits at the middle-bottom of the draft, but they seem to have really gone from top heavy to a solid roster.  To bad they are completely blowing the most important position.

The only way I'd get rid of Saleh is if the Jets were to get Payton.

Payton is an excellent coach, and just as important, would bring an excellent staff.   I think Saleh is an average coach, with a below average offensive staff that is proving to be poor at developing offensive talent.

JD is still above average in my book.

Saleh, on the other hand, I think should go. The team losing six in a row is bad enough, but in several of those losses the team didn't even show up, and I blame that on the coaching staff. Two games in a row a win would have had us in the playoffs, and the entire team looked like s#!t. That is on the coaches, and Saleh is the head coach. He is too concerned with being their buddy rather than being their coach. Too much rah rah and not enough butt kicking.

JD: Had a great 2022 draft, but the way he handled the OL situation and the big whiff on the #2 pick may prove to be a fatal flaw. 2020 draft was a dud and 2021 was mediocre at best. Has hits(DJ Reed) and misses(Laken Tomlinson) in Free Agency. Trading away pieces to stack draft capital was the easy part. Now we have to see how he handles an offseason with significant holes to fill and limited resources. Not a slam dunk to get an extension. Has a lot to prove in the 2023 offseason with a limited path to do so.

Saleh: Has done some good things with the defense overall. Handles the media weird and doesn't make the best choices engaging with them at times. Team seemed to lose its fire towards the end of the season. Not a huge fan of his PVO approach at times and his new age way of leading a football team(plays a role in his hiring of staff as well) Hiring such inexperienced staff on the offensive side of the ball may prove to be his fatal flaw. He has to re-work his staff to bring some experience on the offensive side of the ball. Not a lock for keeping his job past 2023.

Jets need to win 9+ games and make the playoffs next season in order to keep their jobs and earn an extension.

In defense of saleh he did get the blue chip players that Douglas drafted into the game and playing at a high level.sauce and gWilson were really good from the start. Breeze hall showed some really good talent. Jermaine Johnson and micheal Clemons started to come around and make plays. Mitchell played well at tackle. I think avt and hall going down had a huge impact on this team.

My concern with saleh and I admit I was dead wrong about him is he is a life coach. Wants to make sure everything is good and the guys are comfortable.

I have not seen evidence that he is a football coach.

you maybe can get away with that if you have a seasoned staff who are excellent at what they do.

the jets do not have that.

remember they wanted a ceo. Well he appears to be that but without the in depth knowledge of exactly what needs to be taught and that is suprising

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter what we think. They're not going to get rid of anyone. It's so obvious. Even last week, you could see the Jets started Joe Flacco so they could sell the doubled win total. Why not start Flacco when we still could have got in the playoffs? They going to sell all the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookies of the Week awards. Now the latest is Garrett Wilson is already OROY and Sauce Gardner is DROY. Maybe Sauce gets it, but I'm not so sure Wilson does.

By the way, take a look at the entire 2022 NFL Draft...it was LOADED with good players. You could have been a moron and fell into some of those picks just reading this message board before the draft. I think I saw the word Sauce about a 100 times before the draft here. Bottom line is Robert Saleh isn't that great of a coach. Saleh chose poorly building his staff. Joe Douglas, he's great at liquidating assets, but I'm not sold on him as a talent evaluator. As whole his free agency classes and his draft picks aren't that impressive. Again, it doesn't matter what we think. They are going to keep everything together for one more season with a playoff mandate. Finally a playoff mandate after 12 years of missing the playoffs. That playoff mandate is like a mulligan for these guys.

Quinnen Williams next contract is going to eat up a lot of the cap space, and then you have to go spend a bunch of money on a quarterback because Joe Douglas sucks at finding one. Remember we got rid of Sam Darnold to "reset" the rookie window. I would not be surprised that Quinnen Williams gets traded because Joe Douglas messed up the QB position so bad. He'll probably hold out. Fans will turn on him. Good luck to Quinnen Williams.

It blows my mind that fans think that the same GM and coaching staff that got us into this mess are going to get us out of it. The potential for this to get worse is greater than the potential to unf**k it.

You got it. This franchise is happy with 7 wins. Everyone gets a bonus and a case of Pepsi Zero Sugar.

Douglas below average. No QB and more losses than Mike Mac under his watch. Also hired Saleh. His 22 draft was nice and washes out his 20 draft.

Saleh terrible. Might be a little harsh and he could be “below average” but I don’t get the vibes he’s going to be the answer. We’ll see what he does with the offensive coaches.

I think Douglas is a competent GM. His eye for talent has been mixed, (some bit misses and some bit hits) but he's coming off an incredible draft and I'd like to see what he does with another one.

I'm down on the coach for a variety of reasons and very worried he's not the guy.

The Jets forced 14 turnovers last year. They forced 16 turnovers this year. Both second to last in the league. Not good. If Saleh and Douglas are staying then I’d make changes at both coordinator spots.

Turnovers are. Hard to say if it can be taught. Some players have the knack of knocking a ball out or getting an int. You also get ints with a lead so the other team has to use risky plays. The better stat is differential.
