Popular Post OtherwiseHappyinLife
My answer is NO and this might be the straw that breaks the camels back. Woody has every right to make a change based on results alone, who could blame him. Saleh might point the finger in a different direction and vote to give his pal another shot. BUT what will the players say during exit interviews? —————————————————————- Here are my guesses: 1. Zach— My confidence is shot, offense too complicated. Why can’t I roll out? 2. Mike White— Yeah, happy for the chance but why Flacco the first 3 games? I broke 2 more ribs against Seattle because of MLF’s play calling. Garrett Wilson— Give me the damn ball! Elijah Moore— How about TRYING to get me involved early or throw to me in space? Conklin— Man, has this guy ever heard of motioning TEs to get favorable 1:1s against LBers? Uzomah— You guys brought me here to block? Mims— Just trade me! I can at least catch the occasional deep ball and have the size to bring in a slant/fade in the red zone. AVT— Is he the guy who wanted to move me from the more important LG to RG? McGovern— I have no idea where the stunts and blitzes are coming from.. can we simplify? Tomlinson— Yeah, I kind of didn’t feel very motivated this year. Becton— I kept telling them my knee didn’t feel right. MLF, Saleh, the training staff. Brown— Where are my retirement papers? Fant— That POS has cost me millions! Carter— Can we just forget this year? Bam— To be honest, I was hoping to get plucked from the practice squad by another team. Berrios— Love the guy! 2 4
rangerous
I suspect not all of those players will speak freely. I think gWilson will and possibly Moore and even Mims. Zwilson? His head has been twisted around so much he’s like the girl in the exorcist. Milf and lafleur have really laid a ton of blame at his feet. Some is justified, just not all. 2

usanyj
Part of me wants to play devils advocate and say, how do you expect the guy to win with a possible historic bust at qb who cant throw a screen pass, a walking bag of bones who should've retied already, and a journeyman 5th round pick? How is it my fault laken tomlinson didn't make a single block all year, becton is fat at camp and we had historic injuries at oline? I assume he gets fired, but a lot of this is scapegoating him.
rex-n-effect
Did LaFleur ever have the support of the locker room? I don't recall a single player saying anything positive about him while a couple players publicly requested trades.

Why would you give an OC who sucked with three QBs two more QBs? I don't agree that there were "historic injuries" but even if true, why continue with an OC who didn't try to counteract those injuries with adding blockers or play action? When the OL fell off a cliff why continue to run up the middle every series? Why were players forced into positions that didn't fit their skills? Why did almost every player and position get worse with time under LaFleur? LaFleur may not have much of a role to play in the roster or much ability to minimize injuries but it is his job to come up with solutions to problems.

Sonny Werblin
6 minutes ago, RSJ said: MLF isnt a player so the player support doesnt really matter Sent from my iPhone using JetNation.com mobile app Belief matters. If players do not believe in a coach there is no buy in. Without that, you just have a guy calling plays for a bunch of guys who have no belief the play call will work. And guess what the result of that looks like?
JetsFanatic
Problem is, it’s going to be difficult to attract a top OC candidate to a staff that may be one season away from being dismissed and team that doesn’t currently have a quality QB.

varjet
MLF has a future in the NFL, but this job was too big for him. He could not evolve his schemes once teams had film, and his development of the QB and skill position players was very poor. I think there is a good offensive mind there. Something has to change with the Jets’ offensive staff. 1

Player support (and player respect) does matter. Yep- of course it does. It only doesn’t matter much when the results are there. When the results aren’t there, good leaders need to critically listen and evaluate. Do we have good leaders? I have confidence listening to Joe Douglas. I don’t when listening to Saleh. But proof will be in the pudding. The player support for MLF might be that deciding factor.
