For me it wasn’t a disappointment. Is it a disappointment from the standpoint of where we were at one point (6-3,7-4)? Yes. But entering the season, my expectations were for us to improve, get an answer on Zach and be relevant in December. We accomplished all of that so for me we met expectations. 2023 for me is about making the playoffs.

its a disappointment when 5 of your 7 wins are against backups and the other 1 was a fluke miracle

the best win they got of the year was with their 2nd overall pick and they chose to bench him in favor of not wasting this talented roster on a QB development, only to lose out and go 0-6 LMFAO

ABJECT FAILURE

This was a classic Same Old Jets season.  They give you hope, then things fall apart, and they crush you in the end.

Who cares about the consensus expectations last summer?  The Jets proved to be competitive against backup level quarterbacks, that's about it.  When things were in place to make some real noise, they folded like a cheap suit.

Six losses in a row to close out the season.  Eight out of ten games lost to close out the season when the playoffs and division were on the line.

I'm not sure how any objective fan can't be disappointed.

Entering the season, I would have been happy with 7 or 8 wins and meaningful football in December.  But after a 5-2 start, expectations changed.  I can't look at a 6 game loisng streak to close out a 7-10 season and not be disappointed.

Agree here.

It's not the win total, it's how we got here that's disappointing.

My sentiments exactly... I never expected what we did in the first half of the season, and I certainly after the first half, didn't expect the last half being so bad...

Indeed. Disappointment like when kevin woke up to find himself getting heckled over his pretend story about almost getting beat up by Joe Douglas.

Agree with everyone who’s disappointed because it started out so promisingly, giving us false hope. Plus, the FQB in waiting regressed to the pint of not being salvageable.
I want to see those receipts

I mean, I don't think its fair to say Strev regressed. He didn't get many opportunities.

I expected competitive games. At the start I didn't care if they improved by one win or by 10, I wanted them to be in every game.

Unfortunately they weren't most games towards the end of the season. It was a disappointment.

I was also hoping to avoid big losing streaks, which didn't happen.

Absolutely!!! because the Expectations changed and we couldn’t FINISH!!!! Sure there were improvements made from last year. Especially on the D. But disappointed is an understatement.

Yes. Disappointed. Colossal collapse.

However, there was a major silver lining.

1. We found out what we needed to about our QB room- even if its not what we wanted to hear- that we have no legit QB on the roster.

2. We completely turned around our defense. Top 5. Its exactly what we had hoped for. I know there are still fans moaning and groaning about how the D should have more sacks, more turnovers, give up less big plays in critical moments. This is a top 5 D that gave up, on average, just under 2TDs a game. The D is a major strength of this team.

3. We seem to have hit on practically ALL of our draft picks. Sauce, Wilson, JJ, Breece, Ruckert, Mitchell, Clemons. I mean, if they are not studs already they look to have great upside or at the very least be solid backups/depth pieces.

4. I honestly did not think we were going to win as many games as we did. I hoped we would. I knew we could. But I didn't think 7 wins was going to happen.

To me this season was a disappointment but it led to clarity in what needs to be done to have a successful season next year. Get. A. QB. Above all else.

If it were the other way around. If we were 3-6 and ended up 7-10, what would be the narrative?

Yes, cause going into the season all I cared about was seeing Zach progress. I didn't think we were contenders for anything. It turns out we could contend, but Zach and the offense in general was just a lost cause. If you told me this would be our record before the season I would have been happy because I'd figure we took a step at QB. We didn't

Just for some perspective.  There were 4 out of 16 AFC teams that won less than 7 games and 3 NFC teams.  7 wins is a really low bar.  It's  what I predicted before the season as a minimum because in the new 17 game format it seemed like a reachable bar for a talented team that lacked direction.  How we got there is really the issue.

Huge disappointment.

I actually predicted 7-10 before the season, and I would have been totally cool with that, provided that Zach Wilson took a step forward and proved to us he was the guy going forward. Instead, Zach sh*t the bed.

To me, the only way the season could have been a success with Wilson playing as badly as he did is if we made the playoffs. Add to that the fact that we had a playoff birth firmly within our sights only to collapse down the stretch and choke it away, and I consider the season to be a major disappointment.

The expectations never changed despite the fast start. That’s where a lot of Jets fans set themselves up for failure.

Totally different. You are correct. But the SEASON happened the way it did…and for that it’s a major disappointment…c’mon man we lost the last 6 games in a row… throw in the WAY we lost them too.

big disappointment...good teams get better as the season goes on...nothing has really changed for this team....same crap every year.

Our offense, defense, Special teams and coaches were all worse.

Based how we ended and all the holes that need to be addressed and filled next year may even be going backwards.

Yeah I understand that. But this was not a playoff team. We were essentially playing with house money. There were no expectations to be good this year. Just improve and be competitive, we did that. We now have a solid young core to build around.

Losing 6 straight which is the biggest losing streak since the 1-15 Kotite Jets.....yea that be hard to check as success

Did we not start 0-13 just 2 short years ago.

The last 6 sucked badly but I am happy with some of the young talent.
