Rumor: Woody Wants LaFleur, Offensive Staff, LaFired

I just do not know how anyone can see the devolution of White and still think the issue is mainly Zach.

Zach Wilson is not getting fixed by any offensive coordinator.  The fact that a free agent we signed off the street JAG third stringer was only 20-30% better than Zach is not a vindication of Zach

Woody can fire Lafleur.  Sell us on Schottenheimer or whatever crappy OC he brings in.  Zach is not improving.  This fairy tale that jets fans have that Sean Payton or Jim Harbaugh are coming here is less believable than Flat Earth theory

Getting Lamar Jackson makes no sense for the Jets on any level. It is literally the worst possible option and a franchise killer.

I totally understand the take that Lamar doesn't make sense at this time.

However, saying it's a franchise killing move getting an MVP qb on a team that hasn't had a qb in 50 years is a bit much...

Rightfully so if true. This staff started with the second pick in the draft, took a QB that didn't fit their system, and he's actually shown regression in some areas. Some people are saying Woody shouldn't be interfering, but actually he should be. They didn't potentially blow a late round pick. They blew the second overall pick and two years to this point and counting. If JD forced the ZW pick on them you probably wouldn't see this as Woody would know JD took the QB against the staff's wishes. Woody not doing anything would leave the staff free to make excuses for a couple more years, and the people bashing Woody now would likely bash him for not acting. I have not supported Woody all that much in the past, but I would support this 'interference' as he isn't being a nuisance trying to call the plays on game day he's calling out blatant ineptitude.

the dude your opinion GIF

It's actually quite possible that an OC that doesn't force players into systems they don't fit could help. Particularly one that actually has experience doing the job as opposed to a guy in over his head in year two in a position his friend gave him.

What system is turning Zach into a good player?  We run one of the most qb friendly offenses in the league.  Brock freaking Purdy is looking competent in it

This isn't the SF offense. MLF runs his own version. Also, coming from a team doesn't mean you can replicate the system. Hey, what's MW's record prior to his injury? A presumed savior, who while less painful to watch, had a losing record prior to being injured. Don't presume Purdy would have the same success here...

"While the 49ers offense wasn’t matching up against an elite Cardinals defense on Monday night, what they did was still impressive.  It isn’t just that the 49ers scored four times through the air and one-time rushing, it’s how they did it that should make Matt LaFleur and Packers fans envious.

Kyle Shanahan has created an identity, he knows what he has on his offense and he knows how to use what he has. Shanahan’s offense is a run-first offense. He wants to use the rushing game to set up the pass.  He knows his offense’s strengths and he also knows his offense’s weaknesses."

Seems to run in the family.

Explain.

Lamar Jackson has ended the last 2 seasons injured and unable to play. It is unreasonable to think he will stay healthy as his career goes on.

As RGIII, Cam Newton, Vick and others have shown his style of play is unsustainable in the NFL. Not only has he gotten injured the last 2 seasons his effectiveness has noticeably declined as the seasons wore on. Others with his style just stop being competitive because of all the hits.

He needs a very specific offense. The Jets have shown an unwillingness to adapt to a player.

He needs certain pieces on offense we do not have.

He is not a good pocket passer so Garrett will be nullified.

He will cost significant draft capital.

He will cost significant money.

His own team that has completely overhauled their entire team for the guy does not want him or at a minimum does not want to commit long ter

So why are we going to rush out and sign this guy, giving up huge amounts of resources for a QB that is not a remote fit schematically. is extremely limited in QB skills, is clearly breaking down and almost positively will be injured often if not always if we brough him here.

You need to look at what Lama is not what he was. NFL teams kept chasing what Cam was for years after it was clear that he was already over as a player. Lamar is already done.
