The message the coaches wanted everyone to believe was that it was all Wilson’s fault.  And fast forwarding to today, that was the best way for saleh to justify keeping MLF.  This was in the works for months.

lol c'mon dude.  MLF's job was never in question back when Zach was dropped.  The Jets were a pretty safe bet for the playoffs at that point even after coming off that loss, and there's no way in hell they would have fired ANY of the coaching staff had they made the playoffs this year - considering the expectations.  Saleh made the swap because Zach was playing like sh*t and looked completely lost.  You could argue that Saleh benching him had more to do with saving Zach's career than MLF's.

Purely hypothetical but let’s say MLF gets fired, who would be willing to come here as entering next year Saleh and Douglas are definitely on notice. I don’t think any experienced well regarded OC would want to come here for one year and then get fired along with the rest of the current staff

Get a competent QB and a healthy o line alot of the offensive woes will vanish

I don't care what they do but I saw enough QB school reviews using the all 22 where plenty guys were open.

There was a lack of ingenuity in the run game but that might have to do with a revolving door on the line all season.

Hire a senior advisor but not sure Lafleur deserves to be canned quite yet.

AGREED!

You have to give a coach 3 years, and a GM 5 years.  Don't like it, then don't watch for the 3-5 years.  People will live longer if they let this sh*t go.

If this is true then Saleh undermined JD and the entire organization for MLF, and he should be fired for this behavior......

FIRED!!

And I have been a Big ....BIG FAN of Robert Saleh!

Lafluer has been fired.  They just have to figure out how they are going to make the announcement and dress it up.

Hes gone though.  Will be official shortly.

Now I expect to see that Saleh quit in a rage and Lafleur has been promoted to HC.

You underestimate 3 things: 1) the extent to which these coaches believe in themselves; 2) the amount of money an experienced Coordinator commands in salary; and 3) the leverage of a spouse wanting to live in NYC (or at least its suburbs).

yeah in a perfect world.  I tend to think that MLF made the offense much worse than it had to be and I have zero hope that he can run an offense.  I once had a boss who insisted I keep the one employee who was bringing my whole team down, merely because we had no one set to replace him.  Good thing that boss was fired within a year too.  I think MLF has to go or be politely demoted as long as someone else is running the offense.  He's **that** terrible to warrant such a severe action, despite the "replacement" issue you mention.

I’m not holding out hope that this Senior Offensive Assistant is going to turn Zack Wilson around.

The offense including coaching needs a new voice and organizational direction and process, even with a Garoppolo or Carr, etc.

Seems to me the goal of the Senior Offensive Assistant or whatever they want to call hit has nothing to do with Wilson. It's about turning around MLF and being a big voice in choosing the next QB.

I think the nail in MiLF's coffin was the success that Brock Purdy has enjoyed in Frisco in the same system. Now, I like Purdy because I am a  Iowa St/Matt Campbell devotee and believed the kid had a high floor, but the reality is that he was the last freaking player taken in the draft, and after half a season in the NFL, he looks lightyears better than Zach Wilson. Is that because Wilson stinks? Probably, but JD ain't gonna tell Woody that his #2 pick stinks.

I've come to love ya buddy - but this is a tough sell given the whole Zach ACL thing at the beg of the year.

Maybe go with I am pretty sure he is gone - leave a little room

To me, the problem with the Jets’ offense is not necessarily MLF as OC.  It is their entire offensive scheme, coaching and player development.   Too many odd things have happened over the past two years, and particularly a relatively new OC would have limited input.  The offensive staff does not work.  MLF could be and will be better on a different staff.

Creation of that staff is on Saleh as HC, and JD as GM, not necessarily MLF.

And the question now is how you fix it?

Maybe she also realizes her days of being an 11 are in the past.

Ah the infamous wall. I’m not one of those red pill guys but I understand the concept in a social Darwinian sense.
