And this wouldn't be unnatural for ANYONE. Guy is coming in as a first time head coach. He trusts MLF. They are best friends. It makes perfect sense. Problem is, as a best friend, you might not see the forest for the trees. KUDOS should go to JD and the rest of the FO for seeing the trees for the forest, and moving on. With Saleh being a defensive minded coach, the best thing they could do is go out and get a seasoned OC. Someone who could come in, see what we have, and mold the ideas around what we got. Not another guy who needs to come in as a rookie, and say "okay, I need all these types of players. Lets trade some, and rebuild the entire offense." As hard as I have been on Zach, you can tell he did NOT fit this system - square peg in round hole. They need to bring in a QB who can start and actually compete against Wilson. If Wilson beats that person out, great. If he can't, he is the number two and will be gone the year after. 5 2
JoeNamathsFurCoat
A coach who can’t adapt to his players isn’t one you can afford to keep. IDK, I don’t exactly trust Joe Douglas or the front office either though. This sort of reeks of spin control after the fact.

If Becton goes down with injury AVT was more than capable to be LT too. So what you need is someone to compete with Max to be swing,

Ok, well these kinds of takes are fine and everything but completely oversimplify things. The idea that Saleh just wanted to keep his buddy around sounds completely ludicrous. Obviously Saleh felt MLF was a very talented coordinator and they would be on the same page as far as the direction of the team and the offensive scheme. Obviously Saleh had a lot of trust in MLF and his abilities. I think Saleh was also not blind to the absurdity at the QB position this year. The horrendous suckage of Wilson and Flacco. The fragility of Mike White. I'm a big fan of JD, one of the best GMs we have had here in a long time. But one position he royally screwed up this year was QB. THE most important positions on the team. So if I'm Saleh, to sit there and listen to JD call for MLF's head must be infuriating. All things considering it makes sense that Saleh went to bat for MLF. And it seems silly to assume that he did it just because he 'wanted his buddy around'. He probably said what many of us said on this board- give him a half-way decent QB and everything will change.

I am not sure the idea that Moore took a step back is fair. He was having an excellent year before Wilson came back from injury. He basically fell off a cliff and asked to be traded because Wilson wasn't targeting him. He had 7 games over 40 yards. Only 2 were with WIlson. When you consider that Wilson started 9 games and the other 2 started 8 that is pretty damning. When you consider that in 2021 he had 7 games over 40 yards and 4 were with QBs other than Wilson - literally ever game started by a QB other than Wilson - it does not seem like LaFleur is the issue there. I know 40 yards doesn't sound like much but that is a 680 yard season and some of those games (140 for Flacco against Miami) really could push him up.

This is massively problematic but, also, the sort of thing that could’ve been worked thru with an Assistant HC/Offense added to the staff. I will say that adaptability is one of the more important features I look for in a coach, though. Otherwise it’s like the Brady Bunch movies where all of Mike’s designs look like their house.

A project corner they moved to safety and tried to stash on the practice squad? I would say with the way the D performed you shouldn't complain. They kept Adams over him which is what everybody complained about. Adams played a decent number of snaps the last couple of weeks with Joyner down and looked pretty solid to me. 1
