What makes you think that? He’s only 25 and an ascending all pro player. He should have many more years of dominance ahead of him

What makes me think that?  Mo Wilk, very very close career arc to Quinnen.  Also just about every big money FA we have signed has ended up being a dog.

Well those things have nothing to do with Q as a player or a person.

Player A. B , C and D all got paid and flopped and player A and Quinnen are very similar thus Quinnen will be awesome!

Quinnen has had one dominant year this year and he will get paid as a result so you have no worries.

Yeah Q will be a top DT in this league for the next 5 years at least. Be happy we have a player of his quality instead of worrying about what happened with Mo Wilkerson

Also based on your logic, any player we ever draft who does good shouldn’t get a 2nd contract because of past signings. Doesn’t make sense.

Who were the last big money signings?

Wilkerson, OK...6 years ago(we haven't signed a 1st rounder since...).  Other than that?  We're looking at Revis, Ferguson, Mangold as far as stars we developed who were given second contracts, all of which were worth it.  Only other guy who would have been worth paying was Vilma who was bounced out after the system change.

But if Mo Wilkerson is the reason why we shouldn't pay Quinnen or any other DT, why the hell did we take a DT at 3rd overall AFTER this whole Mo Wilk debacle?  "Don't become too good kid or we can't pay you"...meanwhile if you just become average we'll just bounce you out anyway like Leonard Williams.

Let's just pay the star we drafted and figure out the rest later.  Would be nice to finally re-sign a draft pick for once...it's only been 6 years.

Well don’t look now  but he forgot to coach up Moore, Mims and Carter.

Or when players are good it’s the coach coaching them up and when they are bad it’s Zach’s fault?

those guys are bad so it's lack of coaching. We can only attribute lack of coaching to bad players, not good coaching to good players.

It’s the coaches job to get the best out f all players. But just the gifted ones. This coaching staff hasn’t developed shit on offense. Really good players played really good. Every other player became worse.

I agree it’s definitely the time to trade Quinnen. He will demand a ton and hurt our ability to get guys we need in other positions. Seems like Saleh and the defensive staff can put guys out there that can produce. With a better linebacker core and a good safety, it will help with the pass rush, over signing an interior defensive lineman to a crazy contract, even if he is the best in the league. It’s also concerning he disappeared in several games this season. Especially near the end. Other than franchise tag, which I am not sure what the amount is, I think we get what we can for him.

That’s partly why the offensive coaches are fired. The defense is the opposite story. Sauce played up to his potential. More than anyone could have imagined. Guys like JFM, MC2, Clemons, JJ have developed under this coaching staff.  Huff is another bright spot. FA Signings on D have been solid.

The O has been a disaster aside from some home-runs like GW and AVT.

Totally different people. Q is open, honest all-american kid who has worked hard and done everything the right way. If the Jets don't reward this kind of teammate then every word Douglas and Saleh has spoken is a farce. I would ask him to name a fair price and write the check tomorrow.
