The New York Jets are in the market for a new offensive coordinator and the answer could come from the Buffalo Bills.

On Wednesday, the Jets and OC Mike LaFleur mutually parted ways. Reportedly, New York allowed LaFleur to “pursue other opportunities” which sounds like a vague way to describe the two sides both decided it’s not working out.

Regardless, the Jets and head coach Robert Saleh are in the market for a new offensive coordinator.

Toss Joe Brady’s name into the ring.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Bills’ quarterbacks coach is a person New York is reportedly “doing their homework on.”

 

While there appears to be a world out there where the Bills (13-3) could lose both their OC and QB coach this offseason, on the early outset, it seems unlikely.

Dorsey and Brady are both considered youthful coaches by NFL standards and are currently in their first years in their current jobs. While the league has become more open minded toward hiring younger coaches, it would be surprising to see both leave.

Brady does have some brief experience as an offensive coordinator though, so his departure over Dorsey’s might be more realistic. Brady was Carolina’s OC briefly in 2020 before an apparent falling out with then head coach Matt Rhule.

He was. Douglas also interviewed him 2 yrs ago for HC.

I hesr what youre saying and would prefer someone a little more seasoned, but he was an an OC for LSU and Carolina (mentioned above). MLF had zero experience in the roll.

I remember LSU offense was dominant that year on their way to an undefeated season and title...although Burrow was a big part of that success.

That also might’ve been the best team of all time. Burrow, Justin Jefferson, Jamaar Chase. I could’ve been the OC of that team and they still would’ve win the National Championship

Doug Pedersen and McCarthy were available when we passed them over. They weren’t failures and are now preparing for the playoffs.

Co-OC's with Steve Ensminger. Brady handled much of the passing and WR type duties . Brady didn't call plays per-se but had major input.

Brady is a learning on the job type?  He developed Burrow, built a powerhouse offense at LSU, an OC and part of the offensive staff of one of the NFLs best offense and the NFLs most productive QB.

Jets Fans, lol.  No to McCarthy, no to Kirk Cousins, got it.

McCarthy since we skipped on him:  30-20, back to back 12 win seasons, 2 playoff seasons out of 3.  (Jets 13-37 same period).

Cousins since we failed to seal a deal, 5 seasons, 1 missed game, 46-33-1 as starter, 20,934 yards, 153 TD to 50 INT.

Jets over same period, 9 different QB's and numbers so putrid they're not worth writing down.

But yeah, Cousins and McCarthy, that sure woulda sucked.  Thank god we dodged those bullets, right!

So, who is out next rookie Head Coach and 1st round draft QB, I'm excited!

This is the most intriguing name so far mentioned.....

Everyone knows he was a hot shot offensive mind a few years back(Interviewed for Jets HC job in the last search) and didn't have the greatest results in Carolina, but it definitely wasn't all his fault. 

After a year working with Josh Allen I wonder if he's ready to make the leap again. Sometimes it takes that 1st failure to learn from and get back on track. Also a good sign that Saleh isn't really married to scheme, and willing to bring in an innovative mind.
