I guess we'll see, but I honestly think some of you are dreaming on this.

But maybe GB wants rid of him vastly more than I think, who knows.  Price will tell the tale, presuming he actually leaves GB (which I still doubt happens).

They're not going all in on Love, IMO.

After the Russell Wilson trade debacle, the price for aging QBs may not be as high as they would have been last year.

Not saying that is what happened here, but in my experience, when people start letting it be known they have declined an interview, it often means someone else is about to be hired.

Again, I obviously have no way of knowing if that is what happened here.

*It just might be a loyalty thing.

*Another possibility is that he likes their chances in Miami and thinks that we are a poorly run franchise.

Wasn't he a pretty successful coordinator?

Some terrible head coaches have been very good coordinators (Norv Turner? Bowles?)

That’s correct. Most posters here are just going by his year as HC. An excellent example is Joe Walton. Walton did a great job as OC, but did not have nearly the same success as HC. Same for Bud Carson.  In some ways this would be a solid hire because even if he does a good job for us as OC, we wouldn’t lose him for a HC job.

Here are the numbers for a Rogers trade:

Rodgers currently has a salary cap charge of $31.6 million in 2023. $59.465 million of his $59.515 million salary for the year is already guaranteed. The Packers have the option to pay that salary out as a $58.3 million option bonus and a $1.165 million salary in order to drive his cap charge to the $31.6 million figure. The timing of the option works in the Packers favor for both trades and/or potential retirement as the official option decision does not have to happen until the start of the 2023 regular season.

For the team acquiring Rodgers they would be on the hook for the salary for the year. The cap charge would be $59,515,000 if they do not exercise his option and $15.79 million if they were to exercise the option. Rodgers has an injury guarantee of $49.25 million for 2024 but that does not become fully guaranteed until 5 days after the 2023 Super Bowl. If Rodgers was cut after 2023 it would cost the team $43.725 million on the 2024 cap. If he retired they could split that as $14.575 million in 2024 and $29.15 million in 2025 using a similar June 2nd date as mentioned above in the retirement option.

I don't really like Bevell as a candidate, but it's not Chicken Littling to point out that being turned down by him, particularly given his ties to Saleh, is bad.

So what's the result? Do we fold the franchise? I don't get why this is relevant to our long term success. We just find someone better

Seems like less of a shot at the Jets / Commanders and more of a he's not interested in another job at the moment. Unless he ends up interviewing for other teams, which doesn't seem to be the case

I honestly wouldn't do it either if I were him.

It's not a career move that would better himself with an unknown QB situation.

Dianna Russini @diannaESPN

Along with @RichCimini list, add Eagles QB Coach Brian Johnson. He has also spoken with the New York Jets for their offensive coordinator position, per sources.

This dude has been promoted to OC (from QB coach) in most of the places he's been at

If it were just the Jets ok, but he’s also declining interviews for other OC jobs too….makes it seem like we suck a little bit less.

Thank God! Hiring ex-Dolphins coaches has really worked out great for the Jets Tony Sparano and Adam Gase both were hired after getting fired from the Dolphins and came to the Jets and utterly failed

So at least half this board hated the idea of Bevell as OC bc of the Seattle Super Bowl call, his lack of success with Trevor Lawrence under Meyer, and bc he’s “Saleh’s buddy”.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say those same miserable folks will flood this thread with “this is woodys fault”, “we’re such a circus”, “we need to clean house to attract top OC candidates”, “no one wants to work with Zach” type of vitriol.  I’ll say by page 2, maybe 3, we will dip into those waters.
