Kevin Patullo enters his second year as the Philadelphia Eagles' passing game coordinator after joining the team during the 2021 offseason.

With the Eagles in 2021, Patullo assisted a passing attack that finished sixth in the league in receiving average (11.7) and yards after the catch per reception (5.7). He also helped develop Jalen Hurts, a first-time starter who became just the eighth quarterback in NFL history to register 3,000 passing yards (3,144) and 750 rushing yards (784) in a season. In addition, wide receiver DeVonta Smith established a franchise rookie record for receiving yards (916), while Dallas Goedert ranked first among the league's tight ends in receiving first-down percentage (75.0 pct.) and fifth in yards (830).

Prior to Philadelphia, Patullo spent three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts as a pass game specialist (2020) and wide receivers coach (2018-19), working on the same staff as Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.

Sign me up for patullo if rich ain't coming

I mocked the Nick Caley interest but it’s very real.

This year he was somewhat passed over which many in NE felt was a mistake. Belichick wouldn’t commit to Caley as the OC when many felt he deserved to be the successor, so he declined signing an extension and was not asked to contribute in nearly as many roles or responsibilities as he had under McDaniels.

We’ll see how his interview goes and what his feelings are on playcalling, but it sounds like the team wouldn’t be opposed to hiring him while adding a QB/PGC who could serve as primary play caller if Caley were in fact to be the hire.

He’s most likely done in NE. His contract is expiring so the official interview won’t happen until next week. We requested permission as a procedural measure but won’t be necessary.

Going from TE coach to OC seems strange, but it’s become a recent trend as those guys are heavily involved in all facets of pass and run game planning. Sean McVay, Arthur Smith, Ben Johnson, Shane Walderon, Greg Roman, Justin Outten, Wes Phillips, Joe Lombardi are just a few recent examples of guys who have taken similar routes.

Yeah he’s way down on my list. Did I read it correctly that you suggested that he might not call the plays ? They might hire someone else to do that?

Great communicator, great teacher, extremely knowledgeable, well versed in all facets of the game, and scheme diverse. He had a much bigger role than “TE coach” while McDaniels was there. Game plan, play design,  situational offense, etc. This year he was somewhat passed over which many in NE felt was a mistake. Remember 2 FA classes ago, Pats spent a fortune on 2 big time TE’s who became the focus of their passing game. I don’t think BB would do that if he didn’t have utmost confidence in this guy’s ability. Wasn’t Parcells “ just” a LB coach before he got the big job?

If we’re gonna hire somebody with no experience, we should just held onto Leflore, as much as I couldn’t stand him… Is Bobby afraid to have an experienced coordinator looking over his shoulder we need experience, somebody with some gray in their beard, with some success…

This is all very interesting and I wonder why BB passed him over….yet blocked him from going to Vegas.

Great teacher + Great communicator + Scheme diverse I like the sound of that. If he ends up being the hire we would still need someone with experience developing QBs + play calling .

Former QB and QB coach. Has OC experience but not play calling. Seems to have gotten a raw deal from Reich who was calling plays.

One week after the team benched veteran starting quarterback Matt Ryan, the Colts on Tuesday announced that offensive coordinator Marcus Brady has been relieved of his duties.

"This was an incredibly hard decision, but one I felt needed to be made in the best interest of the team," head coach Frank Reich said in a statement. "I appreciate Marcus' commitment to the organization, and he made a significant contribution to our offensive success over the last five seasons. I wish him the best moving forward."

Reich has been calling the plays for the Colts' offense this season, while Brady's responsibilities included game-planning and play design.

Brady was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2021, shortly after the departure of Nick Sirianni, who was a longtime associate of Reich's and held the job before becoming head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brady joined the Colts' staff as the assistant quarterbacks coach in 2018 and had gotten two promotions since 2019 -- to quarterbacks coach in 2019 and then last year's bump to offensive coordinator.

The Colts have been among the biggest offensive disappointments in the NFL this season, with the high hopes expressed by the team entering the season followed by gross underperformance. Indianapolis ranks 30th in points per game (16.1), is tied for the most turnovers in the league (16) and is 31st in offensive EPA (minus-36.54).

The failures of the team's once-vaunted offensive line has been stunning, and the poor start to the season by Ryan -- who was sacked 24 times in seven games -- was also shocking. Reich, in a decision influenced in part by owner Jim Irsay, made the move to second-year quarterback Sam Ehlinger last week.

Tuesday's announcement was just as surprising, especially considering Reich's zest to elevate Brady last year because of the positive impact he was said to have had on the team's offensive preparation.

Smart guys make weird decisions from time to time. Andy Reid once made Juan Castillo defensive coordinator

Hire Greg Olson. period. he is more qualified than any of the other so called interviewees ... this is not that difficult...but like the fools in WDC, they think its improtant to have the right optics rather then substantive substance. What a cluster F...

John Morton is, arguably, the best OC we’ve have had in a long time, Gailey included.

I could have schemed up “throw 50/50 balls up to Brandon Marshall half the time, and throw the other half to Eric Decker when there are 4 DBs on Marshall.”

I'd take either back in a heartbeat and they'd have gotten us into the playoffs this year. Morton got screwed as a scapegoat by Bowles for his friend Kasey Rogers horrid defenses. Morton was not the problem back then, hell he made McCown look good averaging about 21 pts a game.

So the strategy is to hire someone w/ no experience and then hire a senior offensive guru to constantly look over said newbies shoulder?

holy t!ts is this organization inept....

Holy t&(33;Ts, we’re bitching about guys we don’t know before they’re even hired as proof we’re inept.  Not even waiting for guys who we know nothing about are hired before tearing them apart as proof of our ineptitude
