Steve Young talks Zach Wilson with Rich Eisen

Steve Young is your typical Zach truther....was riding his nuts for two years telling everyone to shut up he's fine until like two months ago when he finally realized he shouldn't be on the field...these people should really be banned from having opinions for a season. lol

You described 90% of sports media pundits.  This literal effing clown Orlovsky on ESPN was a huge Zach Wilson guy 2 years ago and now is blasting Zach nonstop on that garbage show he’s on

The only guys in the media who expressed any doubt about Zach before the draft were Cowherd and Stephen A Smith.  Cowherd got ripped for saying negative stuff about Zach

Says Zach makes the hard look easy and the easy look hard. If he can figure out how to make the easy look easy he can be good

Instead of just talking about how successful Zach "can" be, Young should take a Truly Personal interest in Zachs success... He should tutor him this offseason and reap the fruits of his labor.

The Zach Wilson narrative changed in the blink of an eye imagine if Breece Hall didn't get hurt people will still be fanboying him.

Great player, very good commentator but should not be taken seriously when discussing Zach.  They're BYU buddies.  Steve is going to defend the indefensible when it comes to Zach.

It’s a little embarrassing at this point

a player as good as young was should know how lame these excuses sound.

the guy was the second overall pick and was given a top 5 defense and Garrett Wilson in year 2. There’s no excuse for being this bad.

They’re close, but not this close. It’s a close professional relationship. Either way, he’s clearly biased but idk why this is so controversial… I think we can all recognize that Zach would be a very good QB if he were able to do “the easy things” while pairing that with his playmaking ability. Mike LaFleur was one of his biggest supporters for that reason… he felt Zach could be a Mahomes-level player if he was “Mike White 80% of the time”, problem was they couldn’t figure out how to get it out of him.

The question is whether he’ll ever be able to figure it out. Those who are close to the situation believe he’ll eventually figure it out a la Alex Smith/Geno Smith because the ability and work ethic are there. Others believe he doesn’t have the head or mental toughness to ever be a team’s starter. Neither side is wrong. Time will tell, but I think we can all agree the Jets need to add a veteran QB that can start and win games now. They have no idea who Zach will be come June. If he doesn’t recover then you make a decision to either hold him as a backup/3rd string or just move him before the season. If he looks good and has regained confidence then you have a great problem.

I agree…I’m just so over it man.  I just want a QB :(.  It’s so frustrating.  I don’t want to hear Young anymore.  I want to see good QB play.

Ironically, when I did my pre draft write up/blog, Alex Smith (pre Harbaugh)was my “worst case scenario” for Wilson.

Funny. Bart Scott said that same thing over a month ago

And I think Bart and Young have seen and played more NFL football than pretty much everyone here.

Wilson might well be the worst QB I have ever seen from the pocket. He bounces or overthrows screens, every pass is thrown at 100 mph. His mechanics are broken probably beyond repair. The simple stuff he makes look ridiculously hard.

What?

One Shoulder Pennington, Brooks Bollinger, Kellen Clemens, One Arm Favre, Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Matt Simms, Geno Smith, Old Mike Vick, Tajh Boy, Bryce Petty, Christian Hackenberg, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh McCown, Sam Darnold, Luke Falk, Zack Wilson, Mike White, Josh Johnson, Old Joe Flacco, and Mike Steveler aren’t good enough for you?

And yet you all wonder how JD blew this pick so badly

Maybe it's because 90% of people thought that would be a good pick at the time?
