You can't outright tank but you don't have to exactly foster the healthiest environment per the rules either. Jets could have easily fired Gase once they had 1 locked up because it was clear they weren't keeping him before they squeaked out 2 of 3. Then do that open tryouts thing that the Penguins did when they tanked for Lemiuex.

It's inexcusable to let Mahomes slip through our hands for a box safety the Jets could have taken Mahomes without doing anything he fell on their laps and they had no QB Hackenberg sucked.

The knock on Mahomes was that Texas Tech offensive players were always a crapshoot because of that quirky offense. You had guys like Jace Amaro who are freaks in production and athleticism but then when it's time to make the pro transition they simply can't adjust. The list of Texas Tech guys that can't cut it or don't even get drafted after killing it in college is incredibly longer than the list of guys who do. It was a crapshoot to tell if Mahomas was another Graham Harrell or something legit until workouts started. If the Jets were going to take a QB there the clear pick would have been Watson, which in hindsight is probably a good thing the Jets didn't take him.

And Josh Allen.....without question......... There have been many, but the only guy that could have overcome us drafting him was Marino in my opinion.....especially with Toon and Walker... Favre, Mahomes....even Peyton would have not been the qb we know if drafted by us.....we truly ruin lives
