Team waiting in the wings for Sean Payton?

Taking the easy way out. Draft and develop a QB like a real coach!

I would agree, but the reason he left the Saints was because it was too mentally taxing on him. IMO he's done and he just wants to coach on a team that has a good roster. He's worn out. He probably shouldn't be coaching like that, and that's probably why some of the teams aren't interested in him. Because if something goes wrong he would just retire again.

Interesting.

Funny..Is this guy a legit source?  I ask because Albert Breer speculated that yesterday in his SI MMQB article..So does this guy just piggyback the legit insiders?

• The longer things drag out with Payton, I think the more likely it becomes that he stays with Fox instead of coaching in 2023. Geography (meaning close to Los Angeles) and quarterback are most important to him, on top of the money, and I’m not sure there’s a place that sufficiently checks the box for him right now.

Yeah, Allbright is usually one of the good ones when it comes to this stuff. I would say he IS one of the legit insiders.

Jerry is probably trying to see what it would cost to unload McCarthy and trade for Payton...

JAN 24 WHERE IS JERRY? Radio silence? From owner Jerry Jones?

Jones’ cancellation of his Tuesday radio show on 105.3 The Fan naturally leads to speculation - as Jerry well knows and does not mind - about what’s “rumbling” here inside The Star.

Is it about to head coach Mike McCarthy's staff job security? About the guys out of contract (including George Edwards, Joe Philbin and Doug Nussmeier)? About possible departures of Dan Quinn?

A full-staff postgame meeting is normal. So is some period of football mourning. How about a press conference? When’s that? And … well, Jerry is a busy man.

So … radio silence. But this is Jerry. So the Cowboys won’t be silent for long.

It's happening! There's a chance!

jk. get over it. Saleh for life. It's probably the Cowboys.

In the highly unlikely event the Jets are the team that is "waiting in the wings", there's a near-zero percent chance that this franchise gets its "ducks in a row".

SP has cited time and time again the number one factor in his decision would be ownership.

The Jets have zero chance, even if they were willing to make a move right now.

The TV studio doesn't suit him though.  He kind of looks like a Hobbit in a suit sitting behind that desk.

Dude belongs on the sidelines calling plays.

It's near catechism for Parcells tree guys to avoid and sh*t on the Jets.

Anyone see the Two Bills? The last scene where they refused to go near the Jets locker room as if it was anathema

That scene really bugged me.  IIRC, BB was like "they want us to go into the locker room of the Jets " (said with a certain amount of contempt).   BP was basically like "yeah, we're not doing that".

These guys both worked for this franchise but now they seem to really hate us.  And they still speak in absolutely glowing terms about the Giants.  I really wonder what's behind that.  I have to think it's ownership.  They must hate Woody for some reason.  I hope one day we find out.

Yeah, saw it.

Embarrassing.  BB's reaction was expected.  But why does Parcells hate the Jets?  Leon Hess' checks cleared, no?

the whole segment w the Jets and BB going to Kraft -- it was all about ownership. The void after Hess. Plus, Kraft knew how to take care of BB. He didn't want to play second fiddle to BP anymore. And the situation the Jets created in collusion with BP to make BB head coach and BP "consultant," which would revert to BP as HC but then when BP retired, BB would assume the mantle... it was totally effed up. That was humiliating for BB. I don't blame him tbh. They all treated him like a piece of trash.

I viewed that as him realizing his glory days were with the Giants and as important -- he was deferring to BB. BB was truly the one that hated the Jets. For both it was just a period of bad luck and failure.

Im pretty sure the problem is teams just aren’t lining up to pay him a bazillion dollars to coach and run their organization.  More so than the other way around.

BB did mention there were some things he didn't like about two of the potential candidates to buy the Jets, Woody and Dolan, even though he had never spoken to them. Wonder what those things were.

Humiliating to BB?  Today in hindsight given what happened afterwords but nobody, anywhere wanted anything to do with BB after the fiasco in Cleveland between him and Model.  I’ll never forget Beningo ranting and raving that as good as the BP signing was we would be stuck with BB after BP steps down.

BB owes the Jets for giving him a high profile DC as BPs DC.  It revived his career
