It's all entirely based on a hypothetical trade lol. I doubt Aaron Rodgers retires but i'm pretty sure he said he is going to take some time this off season to decide what he wants to do.

Never understood this phrase

‘going to take time some time this off season to decide what he wants to do’.

What else does one do during the off season? They ain’t playing. They are off. SMH ??‍♂️

Torn, whether I like the hire of Hackett, or not. What I am also torn about is whether to trade a 1st rounder (plus) for AR or not as well. On the one hand we instantly become a better offense with him, but that comes with having to fix the OL as well. Do we miss out on another good draft that actually puts this team over the top, even with a QB not named AR....

My feelings are that there are QB's out there that will get us to the playoff's not named AR, and allow us to keep our picks and continue to build this team through the draft. I believe that is the way JD wants to do it. He's seen it work that way for Baltimore reaching the playoff's on a mostly regular basis with a SB sprinkled in here and there.

What I'd like to do is get a VET to compete with MW and Zach (if they decide to keep him) and may the best QB win the job. Fix the OL finally this offseason and draft. JMO

Agreed. But he's 39 and has talked about retirement. What if he doesn't come to a decision until later in the off season when teams are already making moves, signing players, making trades, etc?

Different player, but Brett Favre didn't "un-retire" until July 11th 2008.

Yup.  If they would stay patient they could do it.  But it looks like they are going for the desperate, quick fix approach.  That is the death knell for GM/Coach.

We have seen this happen before.

It is weird.  I will be excited that we have Rodgers.  But will also know it will cause the end of this regime.

IMO it's only desperate and "quick fix" if it costs us 1st rounders.  I think if it's like what that other poster alluded to, our 2nd, swap of 1sts, and maybe a conditional pick next year, you can make this deal without it hurting too much going forward.  I like the idea of getting a cheap QB and keeping our picks, but the odds of us being a contender next year are pretty low with this route.  I think the most appealing part of Rodgers is he can help you actually win, maybe even win a Superbowl, while you try to bridge from Zach to whoever Rodgers' heir apparent will be.

Obviously this becomes much harder to do though if Rodgers ends up costing 1st rounders.  Hopefully that value was just some "expert" talking out of his ass.

I hope some day, people can stop being so stupid about what "Vegas knows".

Repeat "balancing bets" thousands of times if that's what it takes until you finally freaking get it.

As long as there are people who believe the earth is flat, there will be those who think Vegas bets on games.

Willful ignorance has been elevated into a virtue.
